Arrival at Keilor East Leisure Centre

The Keilor East Leisure Centre, situated off Quinn Grove, is a sizable grey-and-white building with a glass facade, recognizable by the 'MOVE' signage at the entrance. The car park provides various accessible car parking spaces adjacent to the centre's entrance, with step-free access.

A designated taxi drop-off and pick-up zone is positioned in front of the building, also offering step-free access to the curb and footpath.

Entrance & Café

Entry to the Keilor East Leisure Centre is through automatic glass doors into the open foyer. The reception desk is located to the left, while the Café and seating area are on the right leading towards the turnstiles.

Passing through the turnstiles, which offer accessibility access for wheelchairs and carer assistance, leads into the aquatic area. The vibrant AquaPlay Park is the initial attraction in this area, featuring play elements suitable for wheelchair users.

The reception foyer includes an accessible change room and shower, conveniently positioned at the left of the entrance for easy access. Furthermore, a mini library with concave bookshelves holding books is placed in front of the change room.

Aquatic Centre

The Aquatic facility is directly ahead of the main entrance, accessible through the turnstile gates. Upon entering, the Water Play area is straight ahead, featuring colorful floors, sprinklers, showers, hoops, and a slide.

To the left are the unisex Bathroom/Change Room and Lockers. Continuing left leads to the Aquatic Wellness Area, accessible through a glass door. Adjacent is the Learn to Swim Pool, equipped with a ramp with handrails.

To the right from the entrance is the 25m lap pool with a ramp and handrails. Despite water movement and sound, the area is spacious. Aquatic wheelchairs and accessible toilets are provided.

Aquatic Wellness

To access the Aquatic Wellness area from the main entrance, pass through the turnstile gates and enter through the automatic glass door leading to the aquatic center. Turn left and follow the pool deck to a room labeled "Aquatic Wellness."

The area features a dedicated warm water program pool for relaxation and therapeutic exercises. Visitors can also enjoy the spa, sauna, and steam room for further relaxation.

The accessible Changing Places Facility includes an electronically operated sliding door, shower, ceiling hoist, electronic changing table, privacy screens, accessible toilet, and hand-washing sink with handrails. Additionally, three other accessible change rooms are available.

Gymnasium

To access the Gym at Keilor East Leisure Centre, turn right from the main entrance and enter through a manual glass door at the end of the lobby, marked by a blue wall. On the right is the Cycle Studio with rows of stationary bikes, while lockers are on the left.

At the end of the corridor is another glass door leading to the Health Studio, a large room with black and blue rubber tiles. Here, cardio machines including treadmills, bench machines, Smith machines, and stationary bikes are lined up.

Free weights and kettlebells are arranged near the wall, with an accessible bathroom and showers also available.

Level One Group Fitness & Wellness Studio

The Group Fitness Studio on Level 1 of the Keilor East Leisure Centre is accessible via lift or stairs with handrails, located to the right of the cafe area. Using the lift, turn right for the Fitness Studio and left for the Wellness Studio.

The Fitness Studio features timber floors and exercise equipment lining the walls, with a platform for the instructor. The Wellness Studio is a separate room, with rows of Pilates reformers on the sides and a small platform.

Both studios have timber floors, black retractable projector screens, and white ceilings with recessed lighting. An accessible bathroom is also available next to the Fitness Studio, along with a seating area for visitors to relax after fitness activities.

Pool Pod

Keilor East Leisure Centre has introduced new accessibility equipment to support swimmers with mobility issues, offering an alternative to pool steps or ramps. The Pool Pod Platform provides independent access to the water and is constructed from stainless steel, powered by rechargeable batteries. 

The back of the Pool Pod has an automatic door that works like passenger lift doors. Three sets of controls are located on the deck, on the platform, and in the pool. A wheelchair locks automatically in place when positioned on the platform. With a lifting capacity of 250kg, it can carry two users at once, and its two foldable seats allow for either two seated users or one seated user with a wheelchair.
