Deliver Access + Promote Inclusion.
Who is Cérge and what does Cérge do?
Cérge is a set of companion technologies delivering societal change ensuring we are all more welcoming and inclusive of disability.

A lack of publicly available accessible information and inadvertent discriminatory customer service are the two biggest yet easily solved Social Barriers to community participation, sport & leisure and accessible tourism for up to 1 in 5 people.
Accessible Information...
With increasing impairment comes an increased requirement for publicly available information to make an informed decision about a destination's accessibility and sensory experience.
Fears of "getting it wrong" or "not knowing where to start" hold many business owners from promoting their existing accessible and sensory experiences publicly on their websites.

Customer Service
The greatest source of discrimination for people with disability is from service and hospitality staff. Importantly, this is not deliberate but inadvertent.
With Over 70%
of all disability being invisible and each disability unique to each person, service and hospitality staff are left to guess and lack the confidence to deliver empathetic service to customers with disability.
The Cérge Companion App provides service staff the confidence to ensure empathetic customer service and deliver meaningful social impact.

Cérge Companion Websites
The Cérge Companion Websites are a plug and play solution for a venue or destination to make a stepped change in the publicly available information detailing accessible and sensory experience imagery and descriptions.
An immediate and significant uplift in publicly available information empowers customers with disability, parents, carers and support workers to make an informed decision before arrival.
Designed to link directly from a company’s website, the Cérge Companion Website contains:
Visual Story & Sensory Guide
Access Guide
Virtual Tour
Audio Guide powered by A.I.
Keyword Sign Board
Communication Board
Cérge Companion App
Imagine having your own personal disability and mental health advocate in your pocket to ensure you receive warm and empathetic customer service whilst participating in local community, sport, and whilst traveling.
The Cérge Companion App is a free assistive technology for individuals with disability, support worker, carers, and parents to notify a participating destination/venue of specific service preferences ahead of time and remove the fears and anxiety of how you or your loved ones will be treated.
Discreet messaging from app direct to the venue empowers customer service staff with complete confidence and knowledge to ensure an inclusive experience.

Being mobility challenged, travelling can be daunting. As I am on bilateral crutches, I was also concerned about needing to wait for extended periods lining up, as this is difficult for me.
Travelling with children adds an extra layer of challenge to the mix. While many people can just arrive at the airport & ‘go with the flow’, it takes planning & organisation when I travel, which can be stressful.
Recently I had arranged to fly to Sydney for a holiday with my three children. I was somewhat apprehensive due to needing to navigate through the airport with the children & manage all our luggage.
However, prior to travelling I had visited the Cérge website wherein I found a huge amount of information about the Sunshine Coast Airport. I was able to view a floor plan of the airport, & even do a virtual walk through with a 360 degree virtual tour.
On the day of travel, I used the Cérge app to notify Sunshine Coast Airport of the time that I would be arriving & check in on arrival. The app itself also had extensive information about the airport & what to expect, including a comprehensive sensory guide.
Once the children & I arrived at the entrance to the baggage check-in, Jordan was waiting to greet us & guide us through to the Qantas check-in area. We were guided through a priority lane, which meant we didn’t have to line up. This in itself was a huge relief for me as prolonged standing is difficult.
At check-in, Jordan remained with us until all bags were tagged & checked through & we had received our boarding passes. We also discussed the possibility of assistance for boarding the flight & a lift was arranged for the time of boarding.
Jordan then walked us through to the security check. He assisted us to run all items through the security screen, & there was a chair for me to sit on for the purposes of screening.
After we had gone through security, Jordan showed us to our gate, provided me with a telephone number in case I needed anything prior to boarding, & was helpful, friendly & knowledgeable. We were then collected by Qantas staff & assisted to board the plane using the lift.
At no time throughout our whole time at the airport did I feel a burden to anyone, & I didn’t have to spend time trying to organise assistance or work out a way to navigate difficult areas. The stress was removed, such that by the time I sat in my seat on the plane I was relaxed & ready for our holiday, not stressed & exhausted from navigating our way through check-in, security & boarding.
What a wonderful service Cérge & the Sunshine Coast Airport offer. I have no doubt that Sunshine Coast Airport’s initiative to embrace inclusion & accessibility will make a huge difference to many.

My Mr 11 Autistic and ADHD and runs off a lot. It is extremely
scary because I never know when or where he is going to go. He
will see something he wants to go and just run.
It’s terrifying.
One thing I try to do is show him places before we arrive to set his
expectations, we can map out where to go and what is there and I
can explain he will get to see everything he wants to see.
The problem is, not much information is provided online that I
need.
I don’t even want to tell you about the level of disappointment if
that information is outdated and when we arrive things are
different.
It puts 1000 spanners in the works.
I’m tired.
This is why when we saw Maleny Botanical Garden and Bird World
on the Cérge website we were so excited. Cooper is bird mad! He LOVES them.
I knew at this level of excitement we would have to really layer the
experience so I could prepare him.
Cérge has everything.
I showed him the Visual Story so we could walk through the
photos of the entrance (some birds around), the pathways, to the
bird world and inside and around the gardens and exhibits. It’s a
big space and a bit daunting when I have a runner. Yet this
information was our toolkit for survival and a fun day!
The Virtual Tour on the Cérge app had us able to see the whole
place so that really helped prepare also. Cooper was SO excited!
We paid our entry and grabbed our maps and met the first birds!
The pathways and exhibits are great! Some parts are steep so if
you use a wheelchair you would want to check Cérge tools online
to make sure it’s accessible for you. There are golf buggies to use
and that’s a lot of fun!
The views are incredible! Wow! Heavens!
I was worried Cooper would be having TOO MUCH fun! Haha what
a problem to have hey, but in all honesty I was worried he
wouldn’t want to leave but he listened to instructions and it was a
truly excellent day.
The staff are friendly and informative they checked who wanted
birds on them and who didn’t which was great! The staff
communicated fantastically and used multiple methods. They
spoke clear and concise and used their hand movements also. This
was really effective for us.
The whole vibe is just excellent!
Cooper got to interact with all types of birds, galahs, macaws,
pigeons, cockatoos and more. He was in his element that’s for
sure! I loved seeing my boy having so much fun, in his zone, brave
and engaged! What a truly incredible experience for him!
We will be back!
I have anxiety, fibromyalgia, issues with sensory overload ADHD
and rheumatoid arthritis. So I have quite a few barriers to
accessing an aquatic centre and feeling comfortable.
In my daily life for work, I support clients include mature-aged
women with chronic pain and health conditions; and stroke
survivors requiring minimal support.
So using Cérge to visit Watermarc Banyule yesterday was a
tremendous experience as a user but also seeing the benefits for
the people I work with. My own intrinsic experience in two
varying ways yet both amazingly complimented each other and
how this can change so many lives and enable me to support my
people SO much more.
As I drove towards the venue there was some construction near
the venue with some of the area out of street view. I was a bit
anxious but having read up in the app I remembered that it was
said the venue is on a hill and there is underground parking; with
direct access to the venue with a lift!!
Yay no stairs!
It helped to know it would be a big building so you knew what to expect. Not
all people with disability need lifts, or ramps. But today, for me. I did.
I did not get lost and nervous as I usually do when going to a new
place, so it was a nice experience. It’s actually incredible how just
being able to mind map a venue from looking at all the
information beforehand seriously relieved so much for me. The problem- you have to literally scour multiple websites to try
and get the information you need.
I need more than a car park, opening times and a pretty webpage.
I need to see the toilet.
The change room
I need to know the smells and noises.
The stuff that isn’t pretty on a website is usually what most people
need but can’t find, so they stay home. Trust me.Noah told me where the change rooms were and they were clean
and not crowded. I had seen them in the Visual Story and they
looked the same which is always comforting.
I used the exercise equipment as stated in the app to use in the
pool; I always thought people had brought their own! When I
asked when are the usual quieter times, Noah understood that I
would enjoy a time when the water slide closes in the late
afternoon and then the rest of the facilities are still open to be
used. Noah felt like a friend. I think me using Cérge kinda made it
feel like we had a mate in common so we had rapport quickly.
Overall a very pleasant experience that I would do again and
recommend using the app to clients, friends and family. I would
actually go to places mostly that are on the app as I will feel less
anxious and I will know before I arrive if physically I can use the
facility or not.

Story of inclusion from staff member Hamish at Splash Devonport Aquatic and Leisure Centre. We love Cérge, we were talking today amongst the staff about how incredible it really is and what it can do. When Terry Sent the notification through last week, we had time to get the hoist set up and the aquatic wheelchair for him. We also knew when he was arriving, what he needed and some information about his disability that he wanted to share. Terry is a legend. When he arrived, because we had the notification prior and I had set up stuff for him, it kind of started connection before he had even arrived. So, when he arrived I just walked over and said “Hey Terrence, I’m Hamish”. It felt so easy! Terry had a look at the pool, the gym and the Exercise physiologist as all of these services will assist him. We are excited to have Cérge at Splash because we are more than willing to help anyway we can and sometimes with visual disability we have to guess and invisible disability we can’t see, therefore can’t know how to help. Cérge saves time, instead of Terry having to wait for 10-15mins for to set up it was done. It saves him time and saved me time as it was done before he arrived and not when I had a counter full of swim lessons! We have a “Sensory hour” in the gym where we turn the screens and lights down from 1pm-2pm which is pretty awesome as not many gyms are silent! Hahah We are more than happy to cater to the needs of the whole community When I heard Terry hadn’t been for a swim for ten years and now has the chance at Splash I was chuffed. This is just awesome. 100% Thanks for visiting Terry, see you soon!

When people don’t try and communicate and can’t be bothered it makes me feel uncomfortable, unimportant and small. Just because I can’t hear doesn’t mean I should be treated differently. Today I arrived at Huntly Aquatic using the Cérge App. I am a Deaf woman and communicate via sign and lip reading mostly. I often have communication struggles and a lot of people do not use sign language or it takes them a while to realise I am Deaf and that I need to communicate differently than what they may have assumed. However today, at Huntly Aquatic I was greeted by two staff members who were very pleasant and kind. I will be honest I was nervous because I wasn’t sure what it would be like or if there would be a communication breakdown. I had put my information into the app so I knew they were aware which I think helped both sides prepare. When I arrived we spoke together for about 5 mins, we used a range of gestures, writing and typing on the phone which is fine. I liked that they were enthusiastic to do their best to communicate with me and it didn’t feel like a bother. We enjoyed having a chat :) I was able to find out everything I needed to know about the venue and the locations of all 3 pools. They have a kids areas too which was great because now I shall return with my kids and have a great family inclusive day out. Being a Deaf person sometimes I experience people thinking I have a low intelligence or that I won’t understand them. This is a really damaging assumption as I am a smart woman and live a great life, I just can’t hear. I am really mindful of not wanting my kids to experience or witness discrimination as I went them to have a great experience in the world and see all people as equals. I really enjoyed using the Cérge app, I had heard good things about it from a friend who used it in Auckland and so I was happy to give it a go!

I’ve avoided outings due to having experienced non neurodiverse friendly businesses that can exasperate PTSD meltdowns and AUD sensory overload. In the past I have been treated pretty average by staff at places and it can spike my PTSD. My son is ADHD so we look to choose "safe" environments to prevent running off with a younger, eager to follow sister and getting into harm's way. Again for him, if the environment is too over stimulating he can be unable to focus or process safe decisions increasing his impulsivity and dangerous situations. Not to mention I become more stressed and it’s just literally no fun at all. This week I wanted to have a belated birthday celebration at Albany Creek Leisure Centre for my 7 year old. We were looking for a relaxed environment to meet a friend and celebrate while showing off my son's new swimming skills. I had reviewed the centre through the helpful Cerge App and the Visual story description and decided to give it a try. I was nervous I was anxious I need to be able to be prepare for multiple of situations or possible situations. Using Cérge it was helpful listing user friendly business to consider and I also found helpful that it shows the distance to the location when considering central meeting point for convenience. Cerge helped reassure I was choosing a neurodiverse friendly environment, allowing me to view the facilities through the Visual Story therefore helping in assuring we could all have an enjoyable, safe time. Toddler pool, Safe entry, Disability parking, Marked pedestrian crossing (better for kids), Spacious and modern shower, ND friendly, Feel welcome, The simple communication and easy entry really helps ease anxiety for me. When attending events being on the spectrum and trying to juggle communication, bags, payments and process information and excitable children at once can often become overwhelming, and dampen a experience. If staff are impatient or unhelpful it’s just makes it a terrible concoction of events. Albany Creek Leisure counter staff were engaging with the kids and helped ensure their wrist bands were put on correctly by them and I was so greatfull for their helpful service. The environment was calm and spacious which meant I didn't feel we were encroaching on anyone's space or activities whilst having plenty of room for kids to play and splash. Once we had splashed our way through the available amenities and all tuckered out ,we were able to have a warm shower in their modern design spacious bathroom facilities. It was a highly enjoyable day out for all that attended and would recommend it for those looking for a relaxed, friendly, accessible environment with loads of entertainment and different programs on offer. Use Cérge! You’ll get all the info before you arrive and no chance of feeling stuck or getting into a pickle you weren’t aware of.
