Arrival at Copper Coast Sport and Leisure Centre
Copper Coast Sport and Leisure Centre is located on Doswell Terrace, along the Copper Coast of Kadina. The leisure centre is a large, white building with a bold sign “CCSLC” on the front of the façade. Adjacent to this hub is a school, creating substantial foot traffic from schoolchildren on weekdays.
The facility has 8 tennis courts, 4 basketball courts, gymnasium, a 15m pool, and situated nearby to a football field contributing to the sport-centric feel of the area.
There are accessible car parking spaces located directly adjacent to the building. A step-free access leads to a pavement guiding visitors to the entrance. A children's playground and tennis courts are positioned near the entrance.
Entrance & Café
Upon entering through the large automatic glass sliding door, proceed down a spacious corridor past sports therapy clinicians offices on the left towards the reception area. Adjacent to the reception area is the crèche as well as the amenities including an accessible bathroom.
Moving around to the right of the reception area is a small retail offering of swimsuits, swimming goggles etc., and further along is the café selling a range of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks.
Moveable tables and chairs are available adjacent to the café. There is a mezzanine level up to Level 1, creating a lofty ceiling and an expansive open-air feeling within the café and reception area.
Court One
To reach Court One, move past the reception and café, turn left and follow a small corridor leading to the entrance. The court features extensive timber flooring and tiered timber seating. The hollow floors generate loud thud noises when basketballs bounce, resulting in a substantial echo.
Exposed steel beams and an insulated ceiling and wall contribute create a glare and reflection effect. Within the stadium, visitors can observe the upstairs cardio and group fitness rooms overlooking the court.
Courts Two - Four
Navigate to Courts 2, 3, and 4 by turning right from the reception/café area and traversing the elongated, narrow corridor. These courts form a unified, expansive space, demarcated by floor-to-ceiling black mesh curtains.
The timber floor has various ball game floor markings and the ceiling features exposed steel beams, and insulation foams creating an environment rich with mild glare and reflection.
Additionally, there are digital screens mounted to the wall. At the end of Court #2 is a podium and stage, serving as a focal point for presentations and conferences. Accessible bathrooms are also available from the adjacent corridors.
Hydrotherapy Pool
To access the 15-metre, heated hydrotherapy pool, proceed past reception and Court #1, and turn left down a small corridor which leads to the entrance via manual-opening, glass doors. The room has a low ceiling with substantial skylights, creating a notably warm and humid environment, accompanied by a strong chlorine odour.
Access into the pool is via steps with handrails. Blue and black anti-slip matting surrounds the pool perimeter, and an accessible shower and bathroom are located within this area. When in use, you'll notice individuals performing rehabilitation exercises guided by rehabilitation specialists.
Gymnasium
Situated on level one, directly above the reception, the gymnasium is accessible via stairs to the right of the reception. Continuous 24/7 access is available at the rear of the facility beyond Court#1 and the pool area, featuring a lift for convenience. Alternatively, another set of stairs at the far end of the facility leads to the gymnasium.
Entry to the Gymnasium through a manual glass door that opens outward, revealing a large open space filled with various exercise equipment and training machines. A wooden cabinet near the entrance on the left offers a convenient spot for storing belongings.
Adjacent to the entrance of gymnasium on level 1, is an accessible toilet and shower facility.
Group Fitness, Cardio & Spin
The group fitness, cardio, and spin rooms, are all located on Level 1 and can be accessed by turning right from the reception area and ascend the stairs. At the top of the stairs on the left is the gymnasium and there is an accessible bathroom located close to the entrance.
Directly ahead is the spin room housing stationery bikes. Turning right from the top of the stairs and following along a corridor allows a view that overlooks reception on the right. First on the left is the group fitness room and further along on the left is the cardio room.
Each room has a dedicated entrance through manual outward-opening doors and all three rooms feature low ceilings, and fluorescent lighting, and have views overlooking Court 1.
Tennis Courts
The tennis courts, which are outdoor facilities, have two entry points. One is through the facility itself, following the same corridor toward 2 to 4, while the other is an external entry for after-hours access directly from the car park.
Following the brick path from the building entrance, the tennis court is on the left, adjacent to the school playground, while the car park is on the right. There are eight tennis courts, each marked with floor indicators for play areas, which are enclosed by a chain fence.
Lush green grass surrounds the area, creating a serene backdrop. A small, shaded seating area provides a tranquil spot for observation or relaxation.
