Redcliffe War Memorial Swimming Pool Visual Story
Arrival at Redcliffe War Memorial Swimming Pool
The Redcliffe War Memorial Swimming pool is a brick building in cream and grey colours, corrugated roofing and an arched dome feature and is located next to a busy suburban road. There is a collection of palm trees and flagpoles at the entrance creating a relaxed setting.
To the right is a set of apartment blocks and to the left are additional houses. There are two accessible car parking spaces located in the car park, which is situated behind the facility.
Entry to Redcliffe War Memorial Swimming Pool
The entrance to the pool is via two security doors which are held open to create a step free and barrier-free entrance. A small retail offering is present as you enter the facility with the reception counter on the right-hand side of the entrance.
The entrance is semi-enclosed with mid-level lighting and is heavily shaded, creating a contrast in lighting levels. Directly ahead is the indoor aquatic centre and to the right is a small children's pool, a seating area and the accessible bathrooms.
Indoor Aquatic Centre
The indoor aquatic centre is housed within a corrugated iron facility resembling an aircraft hangar and contains the 50m 8-lane pool (heated to 28 degrees in summer and 29.5 degrees in winter) as well as the 18m pool (heated to 33 degrees).
There are fluorescent lights and speakers suspended from the ceiling and transparent blinds are available to enclose these areas if required and designed to reduce breeze from flowing through the venue. Ramps, hoists, and aquatic wheelchairs are available.
