Point Walter Golf Course Visual Story
Arrival at Point Walter Golf Course
Point Walter Golf Course is nestled along Perth's Swan River on Honour Avenue. The car park has three accessible car parking spaces with step-free pathways. From the car park, ascend the concrete path and pass through a black steel gate. Follow the brick path bordered by trees and shrubs on the right and a chain fence on the left.
The paths divide into three—one leading up a sloping hill to the Pro Shop and Grasslands Bar, the other two leading downwards to the first tee and golf course. Continue along the elevated path, passing the practise putting green on the right and golf carts on the left, reaching the Pro Shop entrance through a manual glass door.
Golf Shop - Entrance
Enter the facility through a manual outward-opening glass door, equipped with a non-slip mat. The interior is industrial-style featuring white ceilings illuminated by fluorescent lights, complemented by grey carpet with a lighter hazy grey shading effect. Directly ahead is the low counter height reception adorned with foliage decoration and marketing materials.
Golf items, including shirts and caps, are available for sale on the left, while a variety of snacks and beverages are housed in fridges to the right of reception. Veering right from upon entry, is the Grasslands Bar & Café.
Grasslands Bar & Café
To access the Grasslands Bar and Café, turn right from the entrance. Inside, is an open-plan space with a high sloping industrial design ceiling, high glass walls, and polished concrete floors. The bar is on the left, while directly ahead, leather couches and a coffee table offer a spot for relaxation.
Movable tables and chairs are positioned behind the couches with various heights and various backings to provide additional seating and the accessible toilets with showers further beyond. On the right, is a glass sliding door leading to an external verandah overlooking the golf course.
Turning left past the bar counter, a manual glass door leads to a shaded patio-style seating area and directional signage toward mini-golf.
Goanna Mini Golf, Holes1-9
Goanna Mini Golf is an 18 hole course located from the outward opening glass door beyond the Grasslands Bar and past the rear shaded picnic style seating area. To access holes 1-9, turn left from the shaded patio area.
The layout of the mini-golf holes are deliberately uneven to increase the skill level and challenge of the game which can result is low contrast from changing heights and floor surface angles.
Navigating throughout holes 1-9 players will also encounter multiple stepped sections to move between holes and limited shaded areas.
Goanna Mini Golf, Holes 10-18
To access Mini Golf 10 to 18, use the manual glass door on the right of the bar and traverse past the shaded patio area. Follow the concrete brick path, guided by a "Goanna Golf" sign and turning right toward the Hole 10 sign.
The layout of the mini-golf holes are deliberately uneven to increase the skill level and challenge of the game which can result is low contrast from changing heights and floor surface angles.
The golf holes in this section are situated in a shaded area without structured steps and a significantly greater number of established trees and shaded areas, providing a calmer and more tranquil setting for children and elderly individuals to enjoy the game. Bench chairs are available for seating.
Nine Hole Golf course
The teeing area is located directly out the front of the clubhouse. The golf course offers a mix of challenges and scenic views. The first hole, a straight Par 4, features a bunker and a sloping green. Hole 2, a Par 3, always plays into the wind, demanding an extra club. The third hole, the only Par 5, presents an opportunity for an Eagle.
Hole 4's narrow dog leg requires precision. Hole 5, known for the longest putt record, is the toughest with a narrow, fast green. Hole 6's Par 3 has a deceiving double tier green. Hole 7 offers serene views of the Swan River. Hole 8, a short Par 4, leads back towards Perth CBD, and the ninth hole’s left to right dog leg is lined with trees, posing a tricky tee shot.
