Arrival at the Ocean Beach Tourist Park
Ocean Beach Tourist Park is located on Hythe Street, Miami, part of the picturesque Gold Coast in Queensland. The entrance is marked on the left by a concrete sign, whilst ahead, a car park on the right and a roundabout on the left lead the way to the check-in area.
The facility features a low-rise building with a white concrete facade designed for smooth check-ins. Lush palm, pine trees, and well-kept grass, line the road. Just outside the park, a café and surf club offer local dining options, and a brief walk leads to Nobby's Beach, a lively area bustling with boutiques, bars, coffee shops, and restaurants. Its proximity to the highway ensures easy access to public transport.
Reception
Entering the Ocean Beach Tourist Park, visitors find the reception accessible via a step-free ramp with handrails leading to a manual glass sliding door. For those preferring stairs, a three-tiered step equipped with handrails provides access to an automatic sliding door. Immediately upon entering, the reception desk is ahead with a nearby rack filled with tourist brochures.
To the left, a retail section offers travel essentials, and accessories, complemented by a selection of light food items and a fridge with cold drinks. Outside, al fresco seating near the ramp is available. Reception is open from 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm on weekends and public holidays, and is closed on Christmas Day.
Amenities
Facing the reception building, the amenities facility stands as a low-rise structure with a white concrete finish. A step-free ramp from the driveway provides easy access. To the right is the laundry room equipped with washing machines, dryers, ironing boards, and a long table for folding clothes.
Three sets of hand basins are positioned against the window. Access to the laundry is through a manually operated, outward-opening glass door. Further along, to the left, is access to the accessible bathroom which has a toilet with handrails and an adjustable shower with bench seating.
Next door is the parent room which has a shower and a toilet. Additional male and female bathrooms are located at the back of this block.
Tourist Park
Access to the Ocean Beach Tourist Park is via the internal park roadway, welcoming visitors to a variety of accommodation options. The park offers powered sites perfectly suited for caravans, camper vans, or tents, alongside spacious two and three-bedroom villas that can accommodate between two to ten guests.
Just past the reception is a well-equipped camp kitchen, complete with electric barbecues, hot plates, hot water, a sink, microwave, electric jug, and toaster. For dining al fresco, two large picnic tables with bench seating are available, including one with an undercover area and a 1m seat recess for wheelchair access. Ramp access throughout the park ensures smooth navigation between the facilities.
Cabin with Enhanced Accessibility
The accessible cabin is a low-rise building with a pitched roof and verandah. Accessible car parking is available just outside the cabin. There's a ramp with handrails that leads to the front door for wheelchair access. On the verandah, guests can find a barbecue, sink, and seating. Inside, the spacious interior features white ceilings, walls, and timber floors, with minimal furniture for easy mobility.
A couch faces a flat-screen TV on the left, while on the right, there's a dining table, kitchen cabinets, bench, sink, and fridge. The accessible bathroom with shower, equipped with handrails and a bench seat, ensures comfort and safety. Two bedrooms accommodate guests: one with a queen-size bed and the other with a bunk bed.
