Arrival at Nambour Showgrounds
Nambour Showgrounds, located in Coronation Avenue, is a multi-purpose recreational, sporting, and events facility centrally located within the Sunshine Coast region. The main entrance on Showground Way features a drive-in, drive-out car park, including an accessible car parking space located near the main pavilion. A roundabout from the highway directs vehicles to the entry and exit points.
A black metal gate marks the entrance. From the car park, paved concrete pathways lead to the single-story Main Pavilion, constructed from light-coloured materials. The area is surrounded by lush greenery.
Main Pavilion
The Main Pavilion has a large multi-purpose area with a concrete floor and colourful murals, suitable for trade displays, auctions, and larger events. The space is open and well-lit, with a reception desk on the right and fixed display shelving along the walls.
Upstairs, accessible via stairs with handrails or a lift located outside, is an open-plan hall with polished timber floors, accommodating up to 100 people. Entry is through an inward-opening wooden door. Tables and chairs are arranged throughout, and dartboards are affixed to the walls.
The atmosphere is organised and adaptable for business or social activities.
Trade Area
The trade area features two large covered pavilions, the Ray Grace and Jim Carolan pavilions, made of sturdy metal structures. These open spaces are ideal for exhibitions, trade shows, and markets. The environment is spacious and well-lit, with multiple power outlets for convenience.
Smooth, step free pathways make it easier for wheelchair users to navigate from one area to another. Amenities, including food and beverage areas is located nearby. Visitors are likely to engage in browsing exhibits, attending product launches, or enjoying market stalls.
Apex Building Meeting Room
The Apex Building is a two-storey concrete and steel structure with cream-painted walls and a verandah overlooking the oval.
The meeting room is upstairs, accessible only via stairs with handrails. The meeting room accommodates up to 30 people with tables, chairs, a kitchenette, and ceiling fans. The atmosphere is functional, suitable for meetings or gatherings.
An accessible bathroom with grab rails, a shower, and a shower bench is in a separate building near the Apex Building, across from the trade area.
Grandstand Dining Hall
The Grandstand Dining Hall is a spacious venue with capacity of up to 55 people, suitable for small functions or meetings. Entry is through an inward-opening glass door. Large windows provide views of the field.
Inside, the open-plan area has tables and chairs arranged to suit various event needs. A food and beverage servery area is located within the hall, adding convenience for gatherings.
The Grandstand is constructed with concrete and corrugated roofing. Access to the tiered seating is via stairs with handrails.
Stable Blocks
The stables in the equestrian area are spacious and organised, with blocks labelled A through F. The stables are made of timber and metal. The pathways are wide and covered with sawdust, and each stable block has clear signage, with the open design allowing for good airflow. The atmosphere is calm and focused, ideal for equestrian activities.
Scout Hall
The Wallace Building is a small, yellow wooden building located opposite the showgrounds management office. It features a ramp, making it easier for wheelchair users to navigate. The interior is simple and functional, with polished wooden floors and air conditioning.
The hall includes a kitchenette with a wall urn and bar fridge, and tables and padded chairs are available. The atmosphere is calm and suitable for meetings or small functions. People are likely to engage in discussions, workshops, or small gatherings, enjoying a comfortable and focused environment.
Rodeo Arena
The Rodeo Arena is a spacious, open area surrounded by sturdy fencing. The ground is sandy, providing a suitable surface for equestrian and rodeo activities. Adjacent to the arena are purpose-built cattle yards with large water troughs. The area is well-lit for night events, and a grassy space offers natural seating.
Indoor Sand Arena
The indoor sand arena is a spacious, covered equestrian facility with a metal roof and open sides, allowing natural light and air to flow through. The sand surface is well-maintained, providing a soft footing for horses. The arena is equipped with a lighting and watering system to ensure optimal conditions.
Surrounding the arena are metal railings and bleachers for spectators, offering a clear view of the activities. The atmosphere is calm and focused, ideal for training or competitions. Visitors are likely to engage in horse riding, training sessions, or watching events.
Fergus Scott Pavilion
Fergus Scott Pavilion is a large, partially enclosed shed made of corrugated metal with a high-pitched roof. On the left, there are rows of power outlets and open wall sections providing ventilation. On the right is a room with a door, usable as office space.
In the middle, the open floor space is expansive, suitable for gatherings. The foreground features a smooth concrete floor, while the background reveals open access to the cattle yards and wash bay.
Warm Up Sand Arena
The Practice Arena is an open, sandy area surrounded by white fencing and lush greenery. The ground is flat and sandy, ideal for equestrian activities. Tall light poles suggest evening use. The area is accessible via a nearby parking lot with paved spaces. People are likely to engage in horse riding or training exercises.
Ovals
Oval 1, the main oval, is a fully fenced grassy area at the centre of the facility, enclosed by a white picket fence. The oval is equipped with a 600-seat grandstand made of concrete and metal, with facilities beneath including a dining hall, change rooms, and accessible toilets.
Beyond the main oval, ovals 2 and 3 provide additional open grassy areas, equipped with power and water outlets. Nearby, there are designated accessible parking spaces, ensuring convenient access to all amenities. The space is versatile for various events.
School Building
The School Building is located uphill and accessed via an elevated concrete pathway. The structure is made of timber with a corrugated iron roof and a cream façade, surrounded by lush greenery.
The building is entered through a ramp with handrails and an outward-opening wooden door. Inside, the open-plan interior has polished timber floors and high ceilings. Tables and chairs are arranged along the sides, with a small kitchenette featuring drawers positioned at the far end.
The space is designed for educational or community activities, providing a calm and focused environment.
Tennis Courts
The Tennis Court is accessed via steps with handrails leading from the road. The area includes multiple courts surrounded by a chain-link fence for security.
Adjacent to the courts is a shaded structure with a corrugated roof, providing seating with tables and chairs. The space supports tennis matches and practice sessions, offering an energetic and lively environment.
