Arrival at Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre

The Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre is a single-storey building on Hope Street, next to Yowie Park. It has a modern design with a metal roof and large glass windows, surrounded by greenery.  

Parking is located directly in front, with two marked accessible car parking spaces. Step-free access leads from the car park to paved concrete pathways connecting to the entrance. The entrance has automatic glass sliding doors.

Visitors are likely to stop for information on local sights and tourism experiences or a short break, guided by 'Driver Reviver' signs offering free refreshments. The area is functional and welcoming, catering to travellers seeking assistance or rest.

Reception & Amenities

The building's entrance is through an automatic glass sliding door, leading to a spacious reception area. The architecture is modern, with clean lines and a mix of glass and white walls. The reception desk is directly ahead, and brochures and information are neatly displayed.  There is a small retail area displaying souvenirs and gift items.

To the right, amenities include male, female and a unisex accessible bathroom equipped with grab bars and a baby changing station. Visitors will likely engage with reception staff, browse brochures, or use the bathrooms. The environment feels organised and professional, with a sense of anticipation for exploring further.

Environmental Interpretive Centre

The Environmental Interpretive Centre has a modern design with high ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and large glass windows, allowing natural light into the carpeted space.  

To access, turn left from the entrance and pass through an inward-opening door. Informational display panels are mounted on the left wall. In the centre, a wooden statue on a white pedestal stands beside a panel display.  

Directly ahead is a couch and a table with chairs. To the right, outward-opening glass doors lead to a view of greenery and picnic tables outside. Visitors may view exhibitions, attend workshops, or enjoy the outdoor setting. The space encourages curiosity and discovery in a calm environment.

Theatre

The Theatre is located to the left of the reception area, accessed by a ramp with handrails. The design combines glass and wood elements, creating a functional space.  

The theatre has 80 cushioned, tiered seats arranged to provide clear views of the screen. An accessible seating area designed for wheelchairs and mobility users is also available. The entrance has a manual outward-opening door.  

Around the area, people may be arriving, chatting, or settling into their seats. The setting is calm, with an anticipatory focus on videos about the Somerset region. The space supports an immersive and educational experience.

Meeting Room

The meeting room, located to the right of the reception area, is a spacious, carpeted space with wooden ceilings and large windows that let in natural light. The modern design combines wood and glass elements.  

The room, accessible through an inward opening door, features multiple screens, a projector, and a U-shaped table setup, making it suitable for meetings or workshops. To the left, outward-opening glass doors lead to an outdoor area with picnic tables and views of surrounding greenery.  

The atmosphere is calm and professional, providing an environment for focused discussions, presentations, or collaborative work, enhanced by the outdoor setting.
