Arrival at Healthy Living Centre Cairns

Located on Smith Street in Cairns North, Queensland, the Healthy Living Centre welcomes visitors with its modern architectural design. The two-story white building, crafted from concrete and extended roofing creating cover for arriving guests. Surrounding the centre is manicured grass and lush landscaping.

Accessible car parking spaces is available at the back of the building some of which is under cover. Ramps lead from the car park to the entrance of the building via automatic doors. Moving directly down the corridor from this car park entrance leads to the reception area at the front of the building.

Entering into Healthy Living Centre Cairns

To enter the facility from the front of the building, pass through an automatic glass sliding door adorned with intricate white floral prints. Once inside, the interior is modern and enhanced by wooden accents and plant installations. Timber slats line the ceiling and walls, creating a warm atmosphere.

The floor surface combines timber and vinyl. Immediately to the left is the reception desk, while to the right is an outward-opening glass door that leads to a meeting room. Moving forward, drinking fountains are positioned on the left, and on the right, an inward-opening glass door leads to unisex accessible bathrooms.

Accessible Accommodation

Accessible accommodation is situated on Level 1 of the Healthy Living Centre. Turn left from the main entrance to locate the lift and proceed to Level 1. From the lift, proceed to the allocated room taking note of the room numbers displayed on the front doors.

Inside, the timber floor and white walls create a sleek and modern interior. Moving down the corridor provides entry to the fully-equipped kitchen with height adjustable bench top, cupboards and dining table.

Each apartment includes one electric hi-lo bed which is available with a single companion bed that can be put together to create a King size or split into two singles. The bathrooms has ample space, with height-adjustable showerheads and bench seating.

To the right is a seating area with black cushioned chairs, adorned with plants. Glass railings secure the space, leading to a vending machine offering cold drinks at the far end. Gymnasium

To access the gym, proceed straight from the entrance down the corridor and turn left, moving towards the lift located next door to the entrance to the Active Gym. Enter through an outward-opening glass door. Inside, the gym has a timber floor and glass windows, providing natural light to the space.

The ceiling is black and white, with large air con vents visible as well as fluorescent lighting. Gym equipment is positioned for optimal comfort and mobility. At the end of the gymnasium is a unisex toilet with a shower accessible through an automatic door.

To the right of the toilet, another automatic door provides access to the Hydrotherapy pool.

Hydrotherapy

Access the Hydrotherapy pool from the main entrance by heading straight, turning left, and passing through the Active Gym. An automatic glass door provides entry to the pool. Alternatively, from the accessible carpark, turn right before the glass door and enter through another automatic glass door.

The pool features stairs with handrails, as well as a pool hoist. Chairs are provided for seating, and showers are available for use before or after therapeutic sessions.

Natural light floods the space through large glass windows and is complemented by fluorescent lighting. A range of hydrotherapy equipment is available for use during sessions. Please note that the hydro pool area is only accessible with a therapist.

Outdoor Challenge Course

Access the Outdoor Challenge Course from the accessible car park. Concrete stairs, both ascending and descending, with handrails and gates are features of this course. Surrounded by landscaped ornamental plants and manicured grass, the course offers a serene setting for physical activities and exercise. Overhead shade cloth provides protection from the sun, ensuring a comfortable experience for participants.
