Gungahlin Leisure Centre, situated on The Valley Avenue in the rural township of Gungahlin, boasts modern architecture with a distinctive sloping roofline and blue trim, presenting an impressive facility.

Positioned on flat, slightly sloping terrain near Gungahlin College, there is ample parking, including four accessible car parking spaces. Approaching from the car park, a step-free ramp leads to two sets of double automatic glass sliding doors. Bike racks are conveniently located on the left of the entrance.

Entrance and Café

Upon entering the facility there is a winding corridor with a large glass display rack on the left that showcases the venue's achievements, featuring trophies, awards, & a collection of books. 

Adjacent is an entry secured by turnstiles, leading to the gymnasium. Next to it is the reception desk designed with distinctive, royal blue panels. On the right, a retail area displays swimwear & accessories, while the nearby café offers a menu of fresh salad bowls, sandwiches, wraps, & a variety of hot and cold drinks.

Movable tables & chairs are strategically placed, creating a space for patrons to enjoy a post-swim or gym snack. The internal ceiling has multiple changing heights & angles.

Indoor Aquatic Centre

Access the Indoor Aquatic Centre is through a large glass sliding door past the reception. The Toddler Splash Pool, with water sprays and fountains, is on the right, while the learn-to-swim pool is on the left. Moveable tables and chairs, as well as bench seating along the pool sides, offer seating for parents and carers.

On the far left is a locker area and accessible changerooms. The 8-lane 50m lap is further beyond these pools and includes a ramp, stairs, handrails, and a movable pool divider, allowing it to function as a single 50m pool or two 25m pools. Aquatic wheelchairs are also available.

The Aquatic Centre is lively and often noisy with children playing, squad sessions, and exercise classes in session.

Gymnasium

Access the gymnasium through electronic turnstiles, accessible via pass or staff assistance located to the left of reception. On the left, a door leads to the Program Room with a platform and large mirrors, used for group fitness sessions.

The second glass door on the left leads to the Fitness Gym. A storage rack for belongings is on the right, and a small gym office is around the right corner. Straight ahead are cardio machines, including treadmills and rowing machines.

To the right are free weights, bench press machines, and stability balls. Continuing to the far right, there is an accessible bathroom with a shower. Large mirrors fill the wall in the weights area, and the floor surface is made of grey rubber tiles.

Two turnstiles are positioned at the entrance—one on the left for exit and the other on the right for entry, each with clear markings.
