Arrival and Parking at Gallagher Recreation Centre

Gallagher Recreation Centre is a low-set structure that features grey corrugated iron accented with orange, brown, and green. The entrance is accessed via Te Kuiti off Eketone Street, down a driveway with the school on your left.

The car park offers numerous vehicle spaces, including three accessible car parking spaces directly in front of the building. Step-free access leads from the parking area to the entrance. Surrounding the centre are residential houses, a school, and sporting fields.

Entrance at Gallagher Recreation Centre

Entrance is through two sets of manual, outward-opening glass doors. There is a concrete floor which leads into grey, carpet tiles and there are black plastic chairs on either side of the entrance.

The reception area is directly ahead, the gym is to the right, the stadium is directly ahead. To the left is the kitchen and bathrooms (including an accessible bathroom with handrails and a low set hand basin) as well as a water fountain. There is a colorful Maori artwork on the ceiling upon entry.

Gymnasium at Gallagher Recreation Centre

The Sports Stadium is beyond the reception counter down the left hand side. The floor surfaces change from carpet tiles to a timber floor with a high polished finish which creates a low level glare from the fluorescent lighting.

Within this stadium there are two basketball size courts separated by a curtain as well as tiered seating along two sides. The floor is flat and smooth proving easy access to all areas of the stadium and very hight ceiling made of corrugated iron and steel beams.

The floor surface of the gymnasium at Gallagher Recreation Centre changes from brown carpet tiles to black gym mats towards the back. To the left corner is a black functional trainer with a pull-up bar and cables, while in the middle are black upright bikes. Near the exit glass door to the right are treadmills, while on the black gym mats is the space for dumbbell exercises.

Sports Stadium at Gallagher Recreation Centre

Access to the stadium is through outward opening, manual glass doors. Moving into the stadium the floor surfaces change from carpet tiles to a timber floor. Within this stadium there are two basketball size courts separated by a curtain as well as tiered seating along two sides of the stadium. The floor is flat and smooth all the way around proving easy access to all areas of the stadium.

Amenities at Gallagher Recreation Centre

There are additional bathrooms that can be accessed via the gym as well as access from the stadium which includes a male and female bathroom and an accessible bathroom that has a shower with handrails, a bench, a toilet, and a hand basin.

The ladies' and men's bathrooms include two showers and two toilets as well as a changing area.

Before the accessible bathroom is a off-white painted double door and a hallway right after the glass entrance doors. All doors have a lever type, stainless steel door handle.
