Arrival at Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium
Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium is a modern sports facility with a large metal-clad building featuring glass doors and windows. It sits between People First Stadium and the Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre.
The car park is spacious and located directly in front of the entrance, with eight clearly marked accessible car parking spaces. From the car park, step-free concrete ramps with handrails lead to the entrance. Access to the building is through a manual outward-opening glass door.
The environment is calm and organised, suitable for sports activities and events, with visitors arriving for various activities.
Seating
The stadium is a modern sports arena with seating positioned on both sides of the main court. The design includes white brick walls and large glass windows, allowing natural light to fill the space.
Entering through the manual glass door, a staircase with handrails leads to tiered seating. For easier access, a ramp with handrails is located on the left of the entrance. The AusCycling BMX national training centre and Squash Australia facilities sit at opposite ends. Accessible toilets are located before the stairs and ramps.
The environment is dynamic, with the anticipation of competitions and the excitement of spectators filling the space.
Courts
The Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium court is a spacious and modern facility with polished wooden floors and high ceilings. The architecture is primarily steel and glass, providing a bright and open atmosphere. The seating area features colourful, tiered bleachers that can accommodate 1600 spectators.
This area has ramps and wide doors. The venue is designed for various sports, including basketball, indoor soccer, and netball, with BMX jumps and squash courts at either end. The space is filled with the sounds of bouncing balls and cheering crowds.
Toilets & Changeroom
Accessible toilets are positioned on both sides of the building near the Grandstand entrances. The ambulant changerooms are located at the back of the facility. The unisex accessible toilet features a toilet and shower with grab bars, a shower bench, a hand basin, a hand dryer, and a mirror, accessible through an inward-opening door.
The changerooms, also accessed via an inward-opening door, have multiple bathroom stalls with toilets and showers, all with grab bars. There is a spacious area with bench seating, hand basins, mirrors, and hooks for belongings. The atmosphere is practical and organised, as visitors prepare for their activities.
