Arrival at Caloundra Regional Gallery
The Caloundra Regional Gallery is surrounded by lush greenery, with dense trees and shrubs providing a serene atmosphere. The building features a modern design with glass and timber elements.
The entrance is step-free, though the concrete joins and brown paving tiles are slightly uneven. On-street and off-street paid parking, including five accessible car parking spaces, are available. People may be seen getting in and out of cars and moving with focus toward the gallery and nearby library.
Entrance & Retail
Caloundra Regional Gallery has a step-free entrance with automatic glass sliding doors, allowing easy access. Inside, a calm, cool atmosphere sets a reflective tone. A retail area is positioned immediately inside, with a low reception desk to the right. Large glass windows surround the space, allowing natural light to fill the room.
Various shelves and displays are arranged around the room, showcasing a variety of items such as books, artwork, and crafts. The floor has a unique design with different textures and colors. A central wooden display stand holds more items, and there are plants visible outside through the windows, adding to the open and inviting atmosphere
Gallery
The Caloundra Regional Gallery features a modern, open space with white walls and polished concrete floors. The entrance is wide and accessible and the ceiling is exposed, showing metal beams and ductwork, adding an industrial feel.
The layout is flexible, changing with each exhibit. Artworks are displayed on walls and pedestals, with some interactive elements like headphones for audio experiences. The Gallery Store showcases regional and national artisans, with a focus on local, hand-crafted items and a curated pop-up feature Artisan program with every exhibition.
Visitors can explore various exhibits, engage with multimedia displays, and enjoy a calm, contemplative atmosphere.
Art Room & Amenities
The art room is a bright, accessible creative space, reached through the main gallery or via a ramp and stairs at the rear. Entry is through a manual sliding glass door. Large windows and skylights provide natural light.
Inside, wooden tables and stools are set up for art and craft activities. The room includes ramp access and wide doors, making it suitable for individual or group use. An accessible toilet for gallery visitors is nearby, equipped with grab bars, a hand basin, and mirrors. Additional toilets are available across the road.
