Caloundra Aquatic Centre Visual Story
Arrival at Caloundra Aquatic Centre
The Caloundra Aquatic Centre is located within the Caloundra Central Park Sports Precinct on Arthur Street. The low-set facility features significant parking, including three accessible car parking spaces with step-free entry. The parking area is shaded by established native trees.
From the parking area, there is a concrete pathway leading to the entrance, accessible via an inward-opening glass door. The main building has clear signage and a welcoming entrance via a barrier-free breezeway.
Reception & Café
The Caloundra Aquatic Centre has inward-opening glass doors that are usually held open, creating a breezeway effect. Upon entering, the reception is on the right where people queue to pay for entry. To the left is a café offering basic foods and beverages. Further right, a small retail section displays sportswear and goggles.
Straight ahead is a dome-shaped shade structure with a picnic table underneath. More seating is available to the right on a raised deck under a large umbrella, accessible via three steps. There are accessible bathrooms and change rooms located to the left. The bathroom includes a toilet and shower with grab bars, bench chairs, and change tables.
Indoor Pool
To access the pool from the main entrance, proceed straight along the concrete footpath. Turn right, passing the pool on the right and a shaded seating area on the left. Enter through a manual glass sliding door.
The indoor heated pool is 20 metres long and kept at 32 degrees Celsius. It includes a pool hoist and stairs with handrails for accessible entry, ideal for baby classes and rehabilitation exercises. The ceiling has bright children’s images, adding a playful touch. Large windows surround the pool, allowing natural light to fill the space. Seating is available poolside, with clear signs indicating safety rules.
Outdoor Pools
Caloundra Aquatic Centre has three heated outdoor pools: a Kids Rock Pool, a 25m pool with hoist, and a 50m pool with lane markers for lap swimming. The pools are heated to 28 degrees Celsius for a comfortable experience. Surrounding the pools are ample deck spaces with lounge chairs, picnic tables, and shaded seating areas.
To access the outdoor pools from the entrance, proceed straight along the concrete pathway. There is a small pool directly ahead, and the 25m pool is adjacent. Covered spectator seating and grassy areas for relaxation are also located to the right.
The 50m pool is located further to the right, accessible via concrete paved pathways. The pools are equipped with steps with handrails.
Kids Splash Pool
The Kids Splash Pool area features a shallow, unheated pool with a blue shade sail overhead, offering partial shade. The pool has a small water slide and fountains for added enjoyment. Lush green plants and a paved walkway surround the area, which is enclosed by a white picket fence for safety.
There are picnic tables under a shade canopy on the right and more seating and lounge chair positioned under the shade of trees.
To access the Kids Splash Pool from the entrance, turn left, passing the café counter on the right and ice cream freezers on the left. Entry to the pool area is through a gated access point with a single small step.
Gymnasium
The Gym (City Training Zone) is a low-set, long shed located between the outdoor pools. The entrance has a manual glass door with a small step for entry. Inside, exercise machines and free weights are arranged in rows along the length of the shed. The ceiling shows exposed metal beams and insulation, and the lighting is low. Ventilation is provided by fans and windows.
To reach the gym, proceed straight from the entrance and turn right onto the concrete pathway. A pool is on the left, with a white metal fence on the right. Follow the narrow concrete path through the grass to the building housing the gym.
