Arrival at Bay Island Aqua Accessibility
Bay Island Aqua Accessibility is located on Raby Bay Foreshore Park off Masthead Drive in Cleveland. The venue offers a range of non-motorised watercraft, including stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and water bikes in single, tandem, and quad configurations. These options are suitable for all ages and skill levels, making the area inclusive and functional for water sports and leisure.
There are two separate car parks, each with five accessible car parking spaces. Step-free concrete walkways connect the car parks to the amenities. The amenities include bathrooms, with an all-gender accessible bathroom fitted with grab bars.
Check In & Safety
The check-in area is set up on grassy parkland with direct access to the water. Pop-up white tents provide shade for ticket sales and equipment rentals, including kayaks and paddleboards. Trailers nearby are stocked with water sports gear, while chairs and a coffee machine offer seating and refreshments.
For accessibility, the venue offers beach and water mobility wheelchairs, single and double pedal/paddle kayaks with extra stability, seated paddleboards, and 4-seat quad bikes on water.
The area is lively, with visitors queuing for tickets, receiving safety briefings, and putting on life jackets.
Watersports & Beach Access
The beachfront features grassy patches leading to a sandy shore. Accessible beach wheelchairs, paddleboards, water bikes and kayaks are arranged near the shore. Beach matting is available to ensure easier navigation from the grass to the beach. Trees along the edge provide shade, and staff are on hand to assist with aquatic equipment.
The area is lively, with people kayaking, swimming, and enjoying the water. The atmosphere is energetic, with the sounds of splashing waves and water sports activity.
Playground
The playground is next to the Bay Water Sports setup and features a sandy play area with shade canopies. It has slides, an accessible swing, and a soft rubber surface for safety. There are concrete paths leading to various sections, ensuring easy navigation.
The playground is fenced for safety, and the team can assist with access if needed. The space is suitable for play, relaxation, and socialising. The atmosphere is lively, with children’s laughter and the sound of rustling leaves adding to the setting's calmness.
