Arrival

Sunshine Coast City Hall is located on First Avenue, Maroochydore, and has a multi-level structure with curving forms. The façade features cascading terraces with greenery, giving a vertical garden effect. Across the road is a large parking area with marked bays, including accessible car parking spaces.

Clear pathways connect the carpark to the building, and a payment station is located nearby for the payment of parking fees. The space is used by people parking vehicles, paying for parking, and walking towards the City Hall or surrounding buildings.

Foyer

The Sunshine Coast City Hall has automatic glass sliding doors opening into a foyer with light-coloured tiled flooring and a white ceiling with recessed lighting. Glass and stone materials are used throughout, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing views outside. Directly ahead of the entrance is a curved reception desk, with a Concierge Desk positioned to the right for visitor sign-in and sign-out.

To the left of the foyer are accessible bathrooms with grab bars, while cushioned chairs are placed centrally for seating. Behind the reception is a controlled gate giving access to lifts and stairwells. The layout supports clear visibility and movement, with spaces for signing-in, waiting, or attending meetings.

Chambers

Access to the Sunshine Coast Council Chambers on Level 1 is via lifts beyond the foyer turnstiles or a stairwell with handrails. A large, outward-opening door provides entry into the Chamber.

Inside, the room has dark grey carpet, and the walls feature vertical wooden panels. Natural light enters through large, curved windows, complimented by recessed ceiling lights.  The main area is set up with a circular arrangement of wooden desks and black office chairs. To the side, tiered seating is accessed by steps.

Outside the chamber, accessible bathrooms with grab bars are located to the left of the lift. Next to the stairwell, a glass door opens to an outdoor seating area with tables and chairs.  The layout, with its clear pathways and wide access points, is well-suited for meetings, council sessions, and community events.

Community Colab

The Community CoLab at the base of the Sunshine Coast Council City Hall features glass and timber elements in its design. From the carpark, wide concrete pathways provide step-free access to the entrance, surrounded by established trees and greenery. Entry is through an inward-opening glass door. Inside, large windows allow natural light into the space, where timber and glass finishes create an open layout.

Tables and chairs are arranged for collaborative work, and a commercial kitchen is located within for catering or food preparation. An accessible bathroom with grab bars is positioned outside the office, reached via a well-lit corridor. Clear signage directs visitors, supporting easy navigation. The area is suited for workshops, meetings, and community events.

Altitude Nine

Access to Altitude Nine is via lifts from the foyer, arriving at Level 9 where an automatic glass sliding door opens into the main bar and seating area. To the left is the Event and Function Space with timber flooring and large glass windows. To the right of the bar, an outward-opening door leads to the main balcony, where tables and chairs are arranged with views of the city landscape.

Further along the event space, the Green Room is accessed through an inward-opening door and contains tables and chairs, a curtain divider, and a glass wall with a tropical design. Amenities are located past the bar, including an all-gender accessible bathroom with grab bars, a baby change station, and automated door controls, alongside male and female facilities. Visitors are likely to enjoy socialising, attending events, or relaxing on the balcony.
