Arrival at Stromlo Leisure Centre
Stromlo Leisure Centre, situated at the intersection of Uriarra Road and Dave McInnes Road, stands prominently atop Mount Stromlo, offering sweeping views of the valley and surrounding hills. The modern architectural design features glass, steel, and timber elements, with prominent facility signage on the left.
The spacious parking, including eight accessible car parking spaces, is located directly adjacent to the entrance. From the car park, a pedestrian crossing leads across the road to the entrance. To access the facility, use the stairs with handrails and head straight to the sliding glass door. Alternatively, there is a ramp with handrails on the right, near the bicycle racks.
Entrance & Café
Enter Stromlo Leisure Centre through two sets of automatic glass sliding doors into a spacious and modern reception area. The reception is on the right, and features a long low-level counter with a brown wooden design, extending into the retail and café areas toward the right.
Directly ahead are turnstiles that control entry for members and paid customers. An accessible bathroom is also available on the left. Continuing to the right is the retail and café area with various seating options near the large windows.
Swimming costumes and accessories are available for sale and further along is the café counter offering salad bowls, fresh-cut sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and drinks, as well as ice cream.
Indoor Aquatic Centre
Passing through the turnstile gates from reception, the indoor aquatic centre is accessed via a long wide corridor on the left. A large set of automatic doors looking into the Aquatic Centre is for exiting only. Turning right half way down the long corridor into the Aquatic Centre customers will pass storage lockers, accessible bathrooms, and an adult change room that requires an MLAK.
The 50m Heated Swimming Pool equipped with a ramp and handrails, and a pool hoist is farthest to the left. A training pool for beginner and intermediate swimmers is directly ahead. Farther to the right is the children's splash park and leisure pool with beach entry, offering water sprays, slides, geysers, and waterfalls.
Gymnasium
To access the gym, pass through the turnstiles and turn left down a corridor to the Gym. Enter through a glass door on the left half way down the corridor which is activated by a swipe key. An accessible bathroom is on the right and a storage rack for belongings is on the left upon entry to the gym.
Moving further ahead leads into the large and open gym which includes SkiErgs, treadmills, weightlifting machines, and a free weight section. The floor has grey rubber tiles, and the ceiling features fluorescent lights. The walls feature TV screens and mirrors as well as windows providing views to the outside. A separate fitness room features black rubber tiles and full-length mirrors and is used for group fitness classes.
