Splash Devonport Visual Story
Arrival at Splash Devonport
Splash Devonport is on the side of a sloping hill down toward a forested valley area. The building is a low, architecturally designed building with an arched roof and walls filled with glass and timber. The building has a beautiful façade with a colourful Splash Devonport logo.
A car park up on the higher side of the hill adjoins a fully accessible entrance-style ramp to the facility. There are four accessible car parking spaces available close to the entrance.
Entrance to Splash Devonport
The entrance has a medium height ceiling with fluorescent spot & tube lighting. The café and seating area includes a low height countertop reception area that divides the venue from the aquatic centre to the sporting facilities.
Accessing the aquatic centre is to the left and the gym and spin classes are to the right. Reception may quickly become busy and changes from quiet with a noticeable echo from beeping electronic equipment and directional instructions from venue staff.
Moving around Splash Devonport
There are very high ceilings inside the aquatic centre with a corrugated iron finish and solid light blue steel archways. Large air conditioning tubes dominate the ceiling space and the metallic finish may create a loud echo.
The aquatic centre contains an 8 Lane 25m pool, children's splash play area, and learn to swim as well as hydrotherapy with an accessible entry pool.
Accessible Bathrooms at Splash Devonport
Splash Devonport features unisex bathrooms and showers, which include a hoist, an adult changing table, a toilet, a shower, and handrails. There is also ramp access with handrails into the warm-water program pool, complete with hoist capability.
Gym, Cycle Room & Group Fitness at Splash Devonport
In the multipurpose rooms, the highly polished floor creates a glare and reverberations that can be felt and heard when people jump, bounce balls and drop weights. The gymnasium has additional music and an outlook over the forest and trees which creates a natural ambience.
There are also the sounds of the cardiovascular equipment being used including people running, cycling and breathing heavily. Sudden and loud sounds are frequent when busy.
