Spinnaker Park and Splash Pad Visual Story
1. Arrival Parking and Orientation
The arrival parking area at Spinnaker Park is located adjacent to the park and includes two accessible car parking spaces with step-free access to the pathways. The area is within a residential setting and is bordered by nearby low-rise apartment buildings. Flat concrete pathways connect the parking area to the playground, splash pad and central barbecue facilities.
A fence surrounds the park area, with entry through a pool-style gate. After passing through the entrance, a seating area is located on the right. To the left, a ramp leads up to the upper section of the park, providing access to the slides and other play equipment. The layout supports navigation for people using mobility aids. This area is used for park access, picnics and play activities, and activity levels may increase during weekends and school holidays.
2. Spinnaker Park Playground
Spinnaker Park Playground has a nautical theme and includes a range of play equipment such as a climbing tower with nets, accessible swings and spinners, an interactive ship, a slide, and stepping and rocker toys. A long winding ramp leads up to a lookout platform with views across the Newport canals and Moreton Bay. Ground surfaces vary across the playground, with soft rubber surfacing beneath the swings and sand located under the climbing structures.
Shade sails provide overhead cover in parts of the playground, and bench and picnic seating are positioned under nearby trees. The playground is enclosed by fencing with pool-style gates at the entry points. The space is used for active play, climbing and social interaction. Activity levels may increase during weekends and school holidays.
3. Central BBQ and Amenities
The Central BBQ and Amenities area is located outside the fenced Spinnaker Park pool and playground area. From the car park, follow the pathway to the right and cross a small bridge to reach this space. The amenities block includes two ambulant toilets and one accessible toilet. A shaded picnic area is positioned nearby, overlooking a large grassed space and the surrounding water canals.
Public barbecue facilities are available for visitors. The area is commonly used for picnics, gatherings and general park access. Activity levels may increase during busy periods, and food smells may be noticeable when the barbecues are in use.
4. Splash Pad
The splash pad includes ground-level water fountains that spray upward from the surface. The area is accessed via flat concrete pathways that connect to surrounding park facilities. A push button activates the splash pad. Trees and nearby canal views surround the space.
During warmer weather, the area is used for water play and supervised recreation. Visitors may hear the sound of running water when the splash pad is operating. The surface may become wet and slippery while the fountains are in use.
