Arrival at South Pine Indoor Sports Centre
The South Pine Indoor Sports Centre is located on South Pine Road in Brendale. The facility is a large building with corrugated iron features in shades of grey and with colourful accents. Signage on the outside of the building includes 'Rugby Union', 'Touch Football', and 'Indoor Sports Centre'.
There are bike racks close to the entrance as well as a seating area. Open spaces and gardens surround the facility. There are three designated accessible car parking spaces with step-free access to the concrete pathway leading to the front entrance.
Entering the South Pine Indoor Sports Centre
Entering the South Pine Indoor Sports Centre is via a shaded entrance surrounded by colourful features and signage and is through inward opening, manually operated glass doors.
The reception area is a large, open space with a mezzanine level visible directly ahead and the reception desk underneath. Bollards and ropes are in place to assist with the management of queues. The ceiling is high with timber features, whilst the floor surfaces are smooth with colourful segments.
A café and seating area is also located in this space and includes the sale of food items, snacks and treats as well as a range of refreshments. An accessible bathroom is located within a short distance of the café.
Courts One, Two and Three
The South Pine Indoor Sports Centre is home to five indoor courts with the ability to host 1,500 fans in show court mode. Courts One, Two, and Three can be reached via wide, open corridors and are clearly marked with 'Court 1 + 2 + 3' on the blue wall outside the courts. There is a water fountain positioned outside the courts.
Inside is a very large, and open space featuring high ceilings with fluorescent lights, yellow walls with digital screens and tiered seating is available surrounding the courts. There are also Unisex/Ambulant bathrooms with showers in this area, as well as an area for changing clothes.
Accessible Change Rooms
The South Pine Indoor Sports Centre includes two dedicated accessible change rooms, thoughtfully designed to provide privacy, comfort, and ease of use for individuals with additional needs. Each room is equipped with two wheelchair-accessible showers, one standard accessible shower, one wheelchair-accessible toilet, and one additional accessible toilet. These purpose-built spaces ensure all visitors have access to safe and supportive amenities.
There is also a Changing Places Facility here at the South Pine Indoor Sports Centre which features a changing table and hoist, a shower with bench seating, a toilet with handrails and privacy screens.
The amenities are located in the central corridors between the main stadiums.
Courts Four and Five
Moving from reception to the left leads to a large and open corridor with glass windows at the end. Upon entering the corridor, directly to the left are stairs to Level One and a lift is positioned next to these stairs allowing additional access to Level One.
Further along and to the left is access to Courts Four and Five which feature timber floors lined with colourful markings for the different types of ball games held on these courts. The pitched ceiling has lines of fluorescent lighting and large fans.
Level One
Access to Level One is via either the stairs from the ground level or via the lift. This level has five brand-new multipurpose rooms and suites available for community events and conferences. This area is open, airy, and bright and features colourful carpet floor surfaces in public areas and grey carpeted floor surfaces in multipurpose rooms.
Bench seating is available in the public areas whilst the seating and setup configurations in the rooms can be placed according to the needs of the event. Male and female bathrooms are located in this area as well as an accessible bathroom.
