Arrival
Singleton Heights Sports Centre is a rectangular building made of red brick and metal sheet panels. Located on Blaxland Avenue, it has a large parking area in front, including two accessible car parking spaces located adjacent to the entrance. Concrete pathways from the car park lead to a ramp with handrails, providing step-free access to the automatic glass sliding entrance.
The surroundings are open, with trees adding a natural backdrop. A neighbouring school increases activity during start and finish times. Visitors are likely attending events or activities, fostering an energetic and community-focused atmosphere.
Entrance & Reception
The entrance features a ramp with handrails leading to a small covered area before the sliding door. Inside, the reception area separates the indoor courts on the right from the squash courts on the left. The reception desk has a white façade and displays snacks and drinks. To the side, tables and chairs offer seating. The area is carpeted, with a high industrial ceiling featuring exposed metal beams and insulated panels.
On the left, there are gymnastics equipment and a table displaying trophies and club achievements. Visitors are likely queuing or watching sports, creating an energetic and lively atmosphere focused on practical sports activities.
Indoor Courts
The indoor court area is located to the right of the reception. It has brick walls, an insulated roof, and wooden floorboards that produce a hollow sound. Low-level lighting and natural skylights brighten the space. The court has coloured markings for multiple sports and six basketball boards fixed at regular intervals. The design resembles an industrial warehouse gym.
At the back of the reception, a carpeted corridor leads to a spacious accessible unisex bathroom. It is fitted with a toilet, a shower with grab bars a bench, and a hand basin. Clear wayfinding signs are in place along the corridor to direct visitors to the amenities.
Squash Courts
The Squash Courts at Singleton Heights Sports Centre are located to the left of the reception. The courts are enclosed, with angular walls and red lines marking the playing area. There are two timber courts, one featuring a glass wall for spectators. The area is well-lit with overhead lights, and the brick walls add a rustic feel. The sound of rubber balls being hit echoes throughout. Visitors are likely watching or playing fast-paced games, creating an energetic atmosphere.
