Arrival at Nurture Festival
Nurture Festival is a pop-up event situated on a grassed area between Lake Kawana and Sportsman's Parade and directly across the road from Sunshine Stadium. Event temporary fencing with Nurture Festival branded screening surrounds the event space.
An accessible drop-off point is situated adjacent to the entry gates and the zebra crossing zone. Arrival at the event is a busy area with vehicles, pedestrians, and loud sounds. Parking is available in the local vicinity but can be difficult to access.
Entry at Nurture Festival
Situated at the Northern end of the Festival Area, adjacent to the pedestrian crossing and directly opposite the Sunshine Coast stadium is the entry point into the Nurture Festival. Moving in through the entrance to the left are the event staff, available to provide information and directions.
To the right is the Drone Tent, directly ahead is the Quiet Zone and to the left are paths to the Community Groups and through to the food and beverage and entertainment zones. Floor surfaces are a mixture of bitumen pathways and grassed areas. Directly ahead is Lake Kawana.
Community Groups at Nurture Festival
After entering through the main entrance, to the left and directly ahead on the left of the pathway are a range of tents. These tents have a range of Community Groups showcasing their services and products. Each stall includes people talking about their group and offering advice and information.
Further along on the grassed area, past the food and beverage area are more Community Groups. A range of fun activities are also on offer from these participants including face painting and arts & crafts.
Food & Beverage at Nurture Festival
A dedicated area of food vans and pop-up marquees are situated on a flat firm grassed area at Nurture Festival. The food vans are positioned in a long linear configuration and parallel to a long set of tables with umbrellas for visitors to sit and eat.
The food trucks include Italian and Mexican as well as wood fired pizzas, fairy floss and snow cones. Adjacent to the food trucks is the Buskers Corner. Further along on the left are the portable toilets. The Get It!! Stage and inflatable activities can be seen further in the distance.
Bathrooms at Nurture Festival
A set of event or temporary bathrooms are located at Nurture Festival including one accessible bathroom, and a range of regular toilets. The bathrooms are accessed via firm grassed ground past the food and beverage zone and the tents housing the community groups and adjacent to the activities and entertainment.
Speakers Corner at Nurture Festival
Access to the Speakers Corner from the entrance is via a pathway around to the left and alongside the lake. Over a small bump leads into a large, open space. To the left is a sloped, grassed area for visitors to sit and enjoy listening to the speakers.
There are also flat areas adjacent to the stage available for those in wheelchairs. The lake serves as a beautiful backdrop to the speakers and their engaging conversations.
Entertainment & Activities
Directly to the right after entering through the main entrance is a large white marquee which has been built to contain a drone course. People can be seen controlling drones as they buzz around the marquee.
Further around to the left, past the food and beverage zone are a range of activities. These include an inflatable jumping castle as well as a fun, obstacle course.
Get It!! Stage
Following the grassed area from the left of the entrance, moving past the food and beverage areas and through the activities zone leads towards the Get It!! Stage. There are two black canopy tents with musical equipment underneath for a performance or presentation.
In front of the tents, several folding chairs are arranged on a red blanket, facing the stage area. It is recommended that visitors bring their own chairs and rugs to sit and enjoy the entertainment.
Mooloolaba Deck (Quiet Space)
The Mooloolaba Deck serves as a Quiet Space for visitors to sit in a cool and quiet environment overlooking Lake Kawana. There are chairs available for sitting and a rug covers the hard, timber floor surface. To access the Quiet Space, move directly ahead from the entrance along the path and either take the stairs directly ahead or move to the left and take the pathway.
Megan's Gill Art Display is visible on the outside of this building and access to the Quiet Space is via the doorway to the left.
