Arrival
Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre is located on Southport Nerang Road. The arrival area includes a spacious parking lot surrounded by greenery. The community centre is made of metal and wood, designed to match the natural surroundings. Two accessible car parking spaces are located near the entrance, with signage to guide vehicles.
A larger parking area is positioned further uphill. The area is generally quiet, with the sound of birds and passing vehicles. Visitors may be seen arriving, parking, and walking towards the centre to attend events or activities. Paths are wide and suitable for prams and wheelchairs.
Entrance
The Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre has an automatic glass sliding door at the entrance, with a ramp and handrails for step-free access. A concrete pathway leads from the carpark to the entrance, where the surface changes from smooth concrete to brick. Inside, the corridors are wide and carpeted. A seating area is directly ahead, with the administration area further inside. A vending machine with snacks and drinks is nearby.
To the right, a lobby leads to the amenities, which include male, female, and accessible bathrooms. The accessible bathroom, accessed through an inward-opening door, has grab bars and a baby changing station. The lobby also connects to meeting rooms, the Activity Room, and the auditorium. Visitors may be attending events or group activities.
Activity Room
The Activity Room is a large space with polished floorboards and overhead lighting. One wall has full-length mirrors. The room can be divided into two sections and includes trestle tables and chairs. A projector is available for presentations. There are two doorways providing access to the room. There are glass windows facing the street and carpark, equipped with blinds that can be lowered.
To access the Activity Room from the main entrance, turn right in the lobby and enter through the inward-opening doors on the right. The space is calm and organised, suitable for meetings, workshops, or classes. People are likely setting up equipment, arranging tables, or participating in group activities.
Meeting Room 2
Meeting Room 2 is a rectangular space with white and grey walls and carpeted flooring. It has a whiteboard and a tv on a stand, suitable for meetings or presentations. Lighting is provided by ceiling lights and a window that allows natural light in.
From the main entrance, turn right in the lobby and enter through the inward-opening door on the left, next to the bathrooms. The room is often used for discussions, training, or group planning. People may be seated around tables, viewing a screen, or writing on the whiteboard. The layout supports quiet, focused work.
Meeting Room 3
Meeting Room 3 is located next to Meeting Room 2 and accessed via an inward-opening door from the lobby. The room is spacious with large windows facing the main road, allowing natural light in. It has a whiteboard and a projector screen, suitable for meetings and presentations. The walls are white and grey, and the carpeted floor helps reduce noise.
The layout supports seated discussions or training activities. People are likely to use the space for workshops, group sessions, or planning. The environment is quiet and organised, allowing for focused and collaborative use.
Auditorium
The auditorium is a large indoor space with a stage located at the front. The stage is accessible from outside via a ramp with handrails. The room has a high ceiling and is lit by overhead lighting, with blue curtains running along the walls. The floor consists of both carpet and wood surfaces, providing a mix of textures underfoot. On the right side of the auditorium, there is a fully equipped kitchen, which can be accessed through an outward-opening door.
Behind the stage is the backstage area, which includes accessible toilets fitted with a shower and grab bars, as well as dressing rooms. The space is commonly used for performances, events, and meetings. During performances, the area becomes busy as performers dress and prepare for their scheduled appearances. The layout is designed to accommodate large gatherings efficiently.
