Nerang Aquatic Centre Visual Story
Arrival from Martin Street Entrance
There are two main arrival areas for the Nerang Aquatic Centre including the Martin Street entrance and the Cotton Street Entrance. The Martin Street entrance is on the western side of the aquatic centre with a small number of designated car parking spaces.
From the car park, visitors can take the concrete path and wooden board leading to the entrance and reception desk. The Nerang Aquatic Centre is an outdoor facility with a small crème brick building as the administration office.
Arrival from Cotton Street Entrance
Access to the Cotton Street entrance is from the eastern side of the facility and closer to the local business district. A small walk via a concrete path and wooden boardwalk guide you to the entrance and reception desk area via the Ned Fitzpatrick park. A large white domed shade structure is over the closest pool to the Cotton Tree entrance.
Entrance
A low height reception counter adjoining a tall black pool fence creates an entry point to pay or scan for admittance to the Nerang Aquatic Centre. The step free concrete entrance opens to a small retail offering of aquatic items as well as snacks and drinks for sale. To the left is the main 10 lane, 25m pool and directly ahead is a small splash park and toddler wading pool.
Outdoor Aquatic Centre
A large white shaded dome structure to the left of reception covers the outdoor 25m 10-lane pool and a series of purple, orange, and green shade sails cover the splash park and toddler wading pool (right of reception).
The dome structure creates a semi-indoor and outdoor environment protection from weather, yet allows freely circulating fresh air and light. Surrounding the pool are tiered seating, picnic tables, and change room facilities. In contrast the 25m, 4-lane pool is uncovered.
Indoor Aquatic Centre
Situated in a low-set grey building made of glass walls and sheet metal roofing is the indoor programs pool which is heated to 32 degrees Celsius and has steps and ramped with handrails entry. Designed for rehabilitation and relaxation the area is quieter than the surrounding outdoor aquatic facility and in a controlled air environment.
Amenities
The Nerang Aquatic Centre has accessible bathrooms which include a shower, bench seat, handrails, toilet and hand basin. The main pool is accessible by stairs, the lap pool is accessible by a hoist or ladder and the indoor programs pool is ramp and wheelchair accessible. There are aquatic wheelchairs also available for use.
