Arrival at Nambour Aquatic Centre

The Nambour Aquatic Centre is a low-set brown brick building nestled amongst lush green trees. Multiple tree species, including giant palms and Moreton Bay Figs, provide substantial shading across the carpark. The carpark follows a winding course around the perimeter of the venue.

Accessible car parking spaces are located directly in front of the entrance, and step-free access guides wheelchair users from the car park to the entrance. Bicycle racks are also positioned nearby.

Entry at Nambour Aquatic Centre

Entry into the Nambour Aquatic Centre is through a combined passageway and reception area. People entering the aquatic centre queue to the right, and departing visitors to the left. The reception area features a brick façade, and a white pool fence and gate are positioned in the passageway to manage arriving and departing visitors. After payment verification, the gate is unlocked by staff. The pool is directly ahead upon entry.

The reception counter at the Nambour Aquatic Centre is approximately 1200mm high and a stainless steel finish.  Within the reception area is a coffee machine and basic menu food items.

Navigating throughout Nambour Aquatic Centre

The splash park dominates the first experience within the Nambour Aquatic Centre, situated directly in front of and to the right of the reception area. There is substantial water movement with the water sprinklers, fountains, geysers, and colourful, winding water slides.

The accessible bathrooms are to the left upon entry, and the 50m outdoor pool, equipped with steps, handrails, and diving boards, is directly ahead. There is a tiered grandstand with shade adjacent to the pool. The space is very large, with ample area to move around.

Going to the Indoor Pool at Nambour Aquatic Centre

Located down a small ramp next to the 50m Outdoor Pool is an indoor 25m pool with enhanced accessibility, featuring steps with handrails. A roof and clear-walled sides surround the heated 25m Pool. The clear plastic walls can be raised or lowered depending on local weather conditions. A bench chair is against the wall for seating. Vibrant sea creature replicas decorate the corrugated wall outside the pool.

Access to the 25m Indoor Pool is down a slight step free ramp from the main 50m outdoor pool.  The concrete path is set next to a 2m dark blue fence on one side and a wide open grassed area to the right.

Accessible entry to the 25m pool includes  stainless steel handrail over approximately 6 steps into the pool.
Accessible features of the 25m indoor pool include a shallow ledge underneath the pool suitable for a pool hoist and gaining initial confidence.

Accessible Equipment at Nambour Aquatic Centre

Two separate accessible changing facilities exist at the Nambour Aquatic Centre: one near the main entrance and a second within the indoor pool area. The accessible changing room features an accessible toilet with handrails, change tables, and a shower with bench chairs. A pool hoist and aquatic wheelchairs are also available for use.

Entry to the 25m Indoor pool includes a pool hoist.  A white framed aquatic chair sits attached to a pool hoist to showcase inclusion for mobility disability.
