Arrival

The Mary Valley Rattler is a heritage railway line that conducts steam train trips and tours from Gympie through the Mary Valley. The historic railway station is located on Tozer Street in Gympie. The station has a wooden structure with a metal roof. Parking is available directly in front, including two accessible car parking spaces. Entry to the station is step-free, with a ramp located beside the stairs. 

Visitors often park nearby, walk towards the station, or observe the surroundings. The area combines natural and built elements. Train sounds may be heard occasionally, contributing to the activity in the space.

Ticket Office & Retail

Train Platform

Classic Carriage

The Classic Carriage area features vintage train cars with wooden interiors and leather seating. The carriages are accessible via ramps, supporting wheelchair access. The seating varies from booth-style to aisle-centered arrangements. The onboard toilet is compact, offering limited space for manoeuvring.

The environment is lively, especially with groups, and the atmosphere is nostalgic. Background piano music, live commentary, and other onboard sounds can be heard throughout the journey.  Passengers are likely to enjoy the scenic ride, engage in conversations, and experience the unique sounds and smells of a steam train, creating an excited and vibrant atmosphere.

VIP Open Booth Carriage

The VIP area of the historic train features classic wooden carriages with narrow entryways, limiting wheelchair access. The exterior is a rich red, with a ramped entry for easier access. Inside, the warm wood panelling and burgundy seating creates a cosy, nostalgic atmosphere. The area is quieter due to lower seating capacity, offering a calm environment. Background piano music, live commentary, and other onboard sounds can be heard throughout the journey.

Passengers enjoy local cheese plates, bottled water, and a special souvenir. The sounds and smells of the steam train enhance the historic experience. Visitors are likely to relax, enjoy the scenery, and savour the provided treats.
