Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden, situated on Kabi Kabi Country along Palm Creek Road in Tanawha, is nestled within a tranquil, forested setting. The entrance is accessible by a paved, one-way road, marked with arrows for smooth traffic flow. Clear signs indicate accessible car parking spaces at both the top and bottom of the hill.
From the car park, step-free concrete pathways lead directly to the garden entrance. The layout is spacious, although some areas have a steep gradient, which makes the pathways uneven. Visitors park their vehicles, immersing themselves in the quiet atmosphere, surrounded by the gentle sounds of rustling leaves and the fresh scent of the bushland.
Garden Café (Compass)
The Garden Café, accessible through an outward-opening glass door, adjoins the Arts and Ecology Centre. The building combines concrete and timber elements. Outside, seating is set among lush greenery, creating a peaceful setting. Inside, the Café reception counter with a wooden façade is on the left.
Round tables and chairs offer ample seating, with wide pathways for easy access. Clear signage guides visitors through the space. Guests can have a meal, explore unique gifts, or unwind in the calm surroundings. The Garden Café is open Monday to Friday.

Arts & Ecology Centre
The Arts & Ecology Centre sits in a green, wooded setting with a concrete and timber building connected to the café. Accessible pathways lead through well-kept lawns. The space supports exhibitions, residencies, workshops, talks, and symposiums on creativity and the environment.
Benches and open spaces provide areas for gatherings and activities. Access to the building is through an outward opening glass door. The interior features an open area with grey tiles, ceiling fans, and a white board.
To reach the toilets, turn left and then right from the entrance; options include male, female, and all-gender accessible facilities with grab bars and a baby changing station.
Sculpture Garden
The sculpture garden offers a serene and accessible environment with wide, paved paths winding through lush greenery. The area is spacious, with a shade structure with tables and chairs providing a comfortable spot for rest.
Sculptures are thoughtfully placed along the paths. The garden is calm and peaceful, and the ground is primarily covered with mulch and gravel, creating a natural pathway that leads further into the garden. Visitors are likely to stroll leisurely, enjoying the art and natural surroundings.
Bottom Picnic Area
This area, accessible from the lower car park, features an open, sheltered space with a concrete and metal structure, surrounded by lush green foliage. The simple, functional architecture includes accessible pathways leading directly from the car park.
Seating and picnic tables are available, creating a welcoming setting for gatherings or picnics. Guests should bring their own food and water to stay hydrated.
Across the road, an accessible toilet has grab bars and a hand basin. Visitors are likely to relax, share meals, or have quiet conversations, feeling peaceful and connected to the natural surroundings.
Open Lawns
Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens includes a large lawn set in a calm natural environment. The path features wooden bridges with handrails for pedestrians and a winding gravel path for vehicles. Well-maintained paths provide routes for all visitors, including those using mobility aids. Visitors often engage in bird watching, nature walks, or relaxing on benches placed around the garden.
