Arrival at Kulangoor Cemetery
Kulangoor Cemetery on Ackerman Road has a wide concrete driveway leading to an office building surrounded by open, spacious grounds. Tall trees line the path, creating a natural boundary. The office building is low-set, constructed of concrete and metal, and painted grey.
Adjacent to the building is a parking area, including a designated accessible car parking space marked by clear signage. From the car park, a step-free concrete ramp leads to the entrance of the building.
Office
The main office at Kulangoor Cemetery is accessed through a manual sliding glass door. Inside, the floor is carpeted, with a reception table positioned straight ahead and a seating area on the left. A grey wall on one side displays a collection of memorial plaques. The office serves as a space for discussions about memorial selections.
Outside, to the right of office entrance and adjacent to the accessible car parking space, there is a unisex accessible toilet. The toilet includes grab bars, a hand basin, and a mirror.
Wall Niche
The Wall Niche area features a niche wall for ashes, set above ground amidst lush greenery. The wall is made of polished black stone, providing a reflective surface that adds to the tranquil atmosphere.
The surrounding landscape is well-maintained, with neatly trimmed grass and scattered trees offering shade. A paved path leads to the wall. People are likely to visit to pay respects, sit quietly on the benches, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Family Tree
The Family Tree site is an open grassy area surrounded by lush trees and gentle hills. The landscape is well-maintained, with individual plots marked by small trees and flowers, providing a peaceful setting for reflection. The site accommodates up to 28 family members, with in-ground memorials for ashes. Visitors are likely to engage in quiet remembrance, perhaps placing flowers or sitting in contemplation.
Reflection Pond
The Reflection Pond area is a serene and inviting space surrounded by trees and lush gardens. Smooth concrete walkways and seating areas provide a comfortable place for visitors to sit and reflect. In this exclusive location, plaques are displayed, and ashes are interred in an above-ground cylinder.
The cylinder, standing 670mm tall, can accommodate two interments. The pond itself serves as the focal point, with gentle water features enhancing the tranquil atmosphere.
RSL Burial & Full-Surround Monument Site
The RSL Burial and Full Surround Monument sites are set within neatly maintained grassy fields, with rows of upright headstones arranged in an orderly manner. The RSL Burial sites include a granite semi-monument, already installed and included in the burial or reserve fee. These sites are designated for individuals with a service history and their immediate family.
The Full Surround Monument Site accommodates in-ground burials and is located close to the chapel. Visitors are likely to be paying respects, reflecting quietly, or attending a service.
Boulevard Tree
The Boulevard Tree area is a serene space with wide paved pathways running through well-maintained green grass. A variety of trees line the area, including communal boulevard trees often used as gathering spots for families.
The open landscape features gravestones and neatly arranged flowers scattered across the lawn, giving a sense of quiet reflection. A small pond is present, with calm water and lily pads floating on its surface. The setting is peaceful, ideal for slow walks, relaxed picnics, or quiet moments.
Chapel
The chapel at Kulangoor Cemetery is an, open-air, low-set structure made of concrete with a corrugated ceiling. The chapel includes a ramp with handrails leading to the entrance. Inside, there are rows of bench seating facing a central podium, with views overlooking lush parks. The environment is calm and reflective, suited for quiet contemplation or ceremonies.
