Arrival at Kawana Library
The Kawana Library and Kawana Community Hall, located io Nanyima St, are housed in a single low-set building of brick and cladding, linked by a high breezeway. The area is surrounded by parking lots, with six accessible car parking spaces.
A step-free concrete pathway from the car park leads to a shaded seating area. This space is airy with a high ceiling and brown tile flooring, with multiple seating options.
An accessible toilet equipped with grab bars is available nearby. The entrance to the building is on the right. The area is ideal for reading, community meetings, or relaxing in the breezeway. A gentle breeze adds to the peaceful atmosphere, making it a favourite local spot.
Library Entrance
The library entrance has automatic glass sliding doors, opening into a quiet foyer. The flooring shifts from red tiles outside to soft grey carpet inside. Bright wall displays and memorabilia create a welcoming feel.
On the left, another door leads to the main library, with self-service kiosk for borrowing books. The walls have large murals depicting serene forest and lake scenes. To the right are meeting rooms and a sound studio. Wide doorways and clear signage make navigation easy.
The environment is calm and focused, designed for studying, quiet reflection, or attending meetings.
Main Library
The Kawana Library is a spacious, modern area with high ceilings and exposed beams, creating an open and airy feel. The architecture features a mix of glass and timber, with large windows allowing natural light to flood in. The carpeted floors and soft lighting contribute to a calm atmosphere.
The Kawana Library has multiple focus areas including staff help desks, self-checkout, Justice of the Peace, Computer IT area and group working tables.
Accessibility is prioritized with wide aisles, clear signage, and computer stations at various heights. Visitors are likely to browse books, use computers, or relax in the seating areas.
Children's Area
The children's area is a bright space with low-level seating and colourful, cushioned benches. The carpeted floor provides a soft surface for play. Books are accessible on low shelves. A dedicated playroom with glass walls, equipped with small tables and chairs is accessible via an inward opening glass door.
The environment is designed for easy navigation, featuring wide aisles and clear signage. Children read, play, and explore, creating a lively atmosphere. The space feels safe and engaging, encouraging creativity and learning.
Sound Studio
The sound recording studio is a compact, well-insulated space designed for audio production. The walls are lined with soundproofing materials, ensuring a quiet environment. The room is accessible by turning right from the entrance. Access is via an inward opening door. The room features adjustable height desks and modern equipment, including microphones and monitors.
Upon entry, the studio is on the right, with a clear 'LIVE' sign indicating recording in progress. The atmosphere is focused and professional, ideal for podcasting or voice recording. Visitors are likely to engage in recording sessions, adjusting equipment, and collaborating creatively in a calm, concentrated setting.
Meeting Room
The Meeting Room is an air-conditioned space with a modern design. On the left, a large screen and podium are set for presentations. The room allows for various seating configurations. The walls have a blue and white pattern, adding elegance.
On the right, a small kitchenette includes a fridge, sink, and drawers. In the centre, tables and chairs are arranged. The carpeted floor and soft lighting create comfort. Wide doorways and clear signage ensure accessibility. This room is suited for meetings, presentations, or workshops. The atmosphere is focused and calm, ideal for productive discussions.
