Inverell Aquatic Centre Visual Story
Arrival
The Inverell Aquatic Centre on Lawrence Street is a modern facility with a sleek metal and glass design with grey and blue trim. A parking area is located directly in front of the entrance, including accessible car parking spaces. Step-free concrete pathways lead to the entrance, which can be reached by steps with handrails or a wide ramp.
The surrounding area has a calm, community atmosphere with open roads and clear access points. A historic red brick entrance adds a touch of character to the site.
Visitors come to swim and enjoy recreational activities in a relaxed, friendly setting, with the peaceful sounds of birds and fresh rural air.
Entrance and Café
The entrance and café area has an automatic glass sliding door leading inside to a colourful space with fluorescent lighting, and grey carpet tiles. On the right is the reception desk where visitors check in or scan membership passes.
To the left is a seating area and a small retail section displaying swimwear and accessories. A mural showing a river scene adds colour to the wall. The café serves coffee and snacks, with tables and chairs for seating.
An accessible all gender bathroom with grab bars is located along the corridor on the left. The area feels welcoming and active, with people chatting, staff offering directions, and visitors enjoying refreshments before their activities.
Aquatic Centre and Splash Park
Past the gated entry and reception, an automatic glass sliding door leads into the Aquatic Centre. Ahead is a bright splash park and wading pool with colourful slides and water features.
Next to it is the 50-metre pool, which operates as an outdoor pool in summer and converts into a 25-metre indoor pool in winter through a large retractable door. The modern metal and glass design gives the space an open and airy feel.
A ramp with handrails and steps provides easy access to the pool, while amenities with accessible bathrooms and showers are located to the right. The atmosphere is lively, with children playing, people exercising, and others relaxing in the café seating area.
Programs Pool
To access the Program Pool, turn left from the main pool area and enter through an automatic glass sliding door. This indoor space is designed for rehabilitation and aquatic programs, featuring glass walls that separate it from the splash park.
The pool has accessible ramps and hoists for easy entry. An adult changing facility with a shower and grab bars is nearby, and an aquatic wheelchair is available when needed.
The area maintains a calm and controlled environment, making it suitable for group exercises and physiotherapy sessions, offering a quieter setting compared to the busier main pool.
Group Fitness Centre
The Group Fitness Centre is located down a narrow corridor from the reception. The room, accessed through an inward-opening door, is a compact space with fluorescent lighting and grey carpet tiles. The room includes cardio equipment and light weights, suitable for group workouts.
The walls are painted in neutral tones, with one yellow accent wall adding a bright contrast. The environment feels active, with music and instructor guidance creating a focused setting.
Visitors take part in cardio sessions, weight training, and group classes, promoting movement and a sense of community.
Kids GymbaROO
The Kids GymbaROO is located down the corridor on the left of the café and reception area. Access is through a manual outward-opening door. This dedicated play space supports the GymbaROO program, offering neuro-developmental activities for babies and children up to five years old.
The room is colourful with bright fluorescent lighting and grey carpet tiles. Inside are colourful play structures, climbing frames, trampolines, and mats designed for active play. The scent of craft materials such as glue and paint is present.
Class coordinators lead activities, creating an organised and engaging environment for children and their parents.
