Helensvale Cultural Centre Visual Story
Arrival
Helensvale Cultural Centre is located at the corner of Lindfield Road and Sir John Overall Drive in Helensvale. It shares a building with the Helensvale Library. The structure has large glass windows and beige panelling. A shared carpark with the nearby shopping precinct surrounds the building. The carpark includes accessible car parking spaces and tree-lined areas for shade.
A zebra crossing connects the carpark to the main entrance, supporting safe pedestrian access. The environment is active, with visitors attending library services or community events. The layout supports easy movement between the library, centre, and nearby shops, encouraging regular community use.
Entrance and Foyer
The entrance and foyer area has a modern industrial layout, with concrete floors, tiled sections, and exposed metal beams. Wide retractable doors open into a spacious three-storey atrium. A large staircase with handrails on the right leads to the library and auditorium. The community reception desk is positioned in the centre, with an elevator to its left.
Further around to the left is an accessible bathroom with grab bars and a Parent’s Room. The space supports a range of activities including social interaction, meetings, and the use of library services. The design allows for smooth navigation across levels and provides access for visitors of all abilities.
Ground Floor Meeting Rooms
The Ground Floor Meeting Rooms are located to the right of the entrance. A series of short corridors leads from the foyer to various bookable spaces. These include large boardrooms, general meeting rooms, small offices, and a dedicated music and group exercise room. Glass walls allow natural light into the rooms, and the flooring combines carpet and wood.
Sounds from the foyer, music, or instructional directions may be heard throughout the area. The layout supports a range of activities such as meetings, music sessions, and group exercises. The design encourages collaboration while maintaining clear visibility and accessibility between spaces.
Kitchen Facilities
The kitchen facilities are located to the left of the entrance, directly adjoining the community foyer. This commercial-grade kitchen includes stainless steel countertops and shelving, with designated areas for storage and food preparation. The layout supports efficient movement for multiple users.
People are likely engaged in meal preparation, organising supplies, or cleaning up. The space supports individual and group use, with clear walkways and work zones. The kitchen is designed to support community events, cooking classes, or catering functions.
Auditorium
The auditorium is located on level 1 and can be accessed via the main stairwell, elevator, or directly through external glass sliding doors. Inside, the tiered seating is retractable, allowing the room to be configured for different uses. A large curtain and screen are fixed features, though these may change depending on the event.
The space supports performances, conferences, and community events. When in use, sounds of music, voices, and movement fill the room. The layout accommodates seated or open-floor arrangements. People are often attending presentations, rehearsals, or gatherings. The area encourages participation and community engagement.
