Arrival at Gold Coast Aquatic Centre
The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is a modern facility with a sleek design featuring dark timber beams, concrete, and glass. The area is spacious with wide, flat concrete paths.
There are four accessible car parking spaces and substantial paid parking nearby. From the car park, there is a step-free concrete pathway leading to the entrance. Bicycle racks are located along the way. The environment is lively, with the sound of traffic from the busy Gold Coast Highway.
Entrance & Retail
The entrance to the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is vibrant, marked by a colourful mascot statue. On the right, the reception counter combines wood and concrete with a wooden ceiling, creating a modern and natural look. To the left, a gated entry leads further into the centre. The space is open, with clear pathways and paved walkways guiding visitors from the car park to the entrance.
Beyond the entrance, a Pro Shop offers swim gear, goggles, and accessories, while seating areas line the left. The lively atmosphere is enhanced by the sounds of water and friendly chatter from the pool area, making it a refreshing, energetic environment.
10 Lane 50m Pool
Beyond the reception area on the left, there is a 10-lane, 50-metre pool. This pool is surrounded by tiered seating, creating a grandstand effect and a professional atmosphere. It is equipped with diving boards and handrails, and there are wide pathways to facilitate easy movement around the area. Concrete and metal structures provide shaded sections for comfort.
Nearby, there are male, female and all-gender bathrooms. Each bathroom is equipped with toilets and showers that feature handrails, a shower bench, and a hand basin. The facade of the bathrooms is adorned with a geometric tile pattern in shades of blue and yellow, adding a vibrant touch to the space.
Level 1 Tiered Seating
The Level 1 tiered seating area features expansive concrete surfaces. The architecture is modern, with a large canopy providing shade. Access is available via an elevator and multiple stairs with handrails, located on the left side past the Pro Shop. The area includes designated seating for the elderly and wheelchair users, ensuring access for everyone.
Visitors can enjoy views over the aquatic centre and across the Nerang River to SeaWorld. People are likely watching swimming events, socialising, or enjoying the view. The atmosphere is lively and engaging, filled with excitement and anticipation.
Multiple Pool Zone
The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre presents a variety of swimming facilities. Upon entering, pass the turnstiles and the Pro Shop to find the 50m Training Pool, featuring multiple lanes with varying speeds. Adjacent is another lane pool.
Nearby, the Toddler Splash Pool includes a shade canopy, tipping buckets, sprinklers, and water features. The 10m high dive pool stands prominently, offering a thrilling experience. The 25m pool provides a ramp entry. Amenities include an accessible toilet and shower with grab bars, a shower bench, and a hand basin. An aquatic wheelchair is available if needed.
Sunlit pools and shaded seating areas create a balanced environment of warmth and coolness.
Indoor Learn to Swim Pool
The Indoor Learn to Swim Pool at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is housed in a modern building. Entry is through an outward opening glass door. The pool is designed for children's swimming lessons, rehabilitation, or quiet relaxation. The architecture is sleek, featuring large glass windows that allow natural light to flood the space.
The environment is humid with a strong chlorine smell. An accessible bathroom is nearby, equipped with a toilet, shower with grab bars, shower bench, hand basin, and mirrors. Pool hoists and aquatic chairs are also available.
The pool is calm and inviting, with people likely engaging in swimming lessons or therapeutic exercises.
Members Gym
The members' gym is located upstairs, accessible via an elevator or stairs with handrails on the left, past the Pro Shop. Upon using the lift, turn right and enter through an inward-opening glass door. The reception, with a wooden front, is on the right. On the left are the toilets, including an accessible bathroom with grab bars.
Continuing, there is a seating area and storage units for belongings on the right. The interior features a modern design with bright yellow accents, black vinyl flooring, and large windows allowing natural light. The gym is equipped with various exercise machines and free weights. A spacious studio for classes is located on the left, accessible via an inward-opening door.
High Performance Athlete Gym
The High-Performance Athlete Gymnasium is a modern facility which overlooks a 50m pool, enhancing the environment with a sense of openness. Entrance to the gym is through an outward-opening glass door.
Inside, the gym is equipped with advanced fitness equipment. On the left, weight racks and exercise machines are arranged for strength training. To the right, bench machines and free weights are available for varied workouts. Stationary bikes are positioned for cardiovascular exercises.
The area is designed for athletes and team members to use, fostering a focused and determined atmosphere.
Function Rooms
The function rooms at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre are on Level 1. They are modern and spacious, with carpeted floors and air-conditioning. Access is via stairs with handrails or an elevator past the Pro Shop.
To access the function rooms when using the lift, turn right, then left, with metal railings on the left and glass walls on the right. Enter through the inward-opening glass door. The architecture includes large glass windows with block-out curtains to manage glare and temperature.
Inside, the layout is open, with chairs that can be arranged for meetings, workshops, or events . The glass window on the right provides a view of the pool.
