Arrival at Franklin Pool & Leisure

Access to the Franklin Pool & Leisure Centre is off Franklin Road leading into a car park where there are numerous parking spaces outside the facility including three accessible car parking spaces.

There is step-free access from the car park to the kerb and the entrance can be accessed either via the stairs or a ramp. The building is a low set, cream, and red building set amongst trees and gardens in a residential area within Pukekohe.

Arrival at Franklin Pool & Leisure from the opposite side of the Franklin road. Franklin Road has two center lines with wide diagonal white marks in the middle. To the right of the front corner are trees with abundant foliage, while to the left are dead trees. Cars of different colors and brands are parked in the designated car spaces further beyond the dead trees. A large logo with deep and light blue background in the center is detailed in the upper part of the white, corrugated front wall.
Carpark at Franklin Pool & Leisure coming from another angle of the opposite side of the Franklin Road. The glass windows of the facility are evident from this position. Access to the carpark can be distinguished by a blue circular road sign with a short white horizontal line in the middle. Blue sign boards are scattered on the edges of the road verges near the trees. Trees with lush foliage surround the designated car parking spaces.

Entrance at Franklin Pool & Leisure

Entering the facility is through glass doors leading to the reception desk on the right, to the left is a seating area, directly ahead are stairs (as well as a ramp) to the upper level.

Further to the right is the aquatic area. Additional seating is located at the base of the ramp. At the entrance are vending machines with refreshments available for purchase. The reception area also has a small range of swimwear and accessories for sale. Signage detailing events and classes are on display.

Aquatic Centre at Franklin Pool & Leisure

Entrance to the Aquatic Centre is to the right of reception via automatic glass sliding doors. Upon entering is the teaching pool which has stairs with handrails for easy access and further towards the back is a smaller pool with a hoist.

The 25m pool has six lanes and has ramp access as well as transportable stairs. Facing the 25m pool are two family change rooms, and downstairs are the female and male change rooms and bathrooms. The accessible bathroom includes a shower, bench, and toilet with handrails.

The floor has a rough surface for foot friction and to avoid slipping. The ceiling has huge tubular frames with brown planks of wood for support. Sports Stadium at Franklin Pool & Leisure

Access to the stadium is via stairs (or ramp) from the reception area. Directly ahead is the gym, to the left are stairs up to the group fitness area as well as office spaces and to the right is the view over the stadium. Within this area is a stair with handrails leading down to the stadium.

The flooring in this area is a combination of Lino and carpet whilst there is timber flooring on the basketball courts. There is red, plastic seating available around three parts of the stadium.

Inside look at the spacious sports stadium. To the back is the group fitness area, seen from the glass windows with red steel frames. Yellow signages can be seen placed above the fitness area. A garbage bin is noticeable at the back of the black roofing foundation and structure. Further beyond to the right are red plastic chairs attached to a green metal frame.

Gymnasium at Franklin Pool & Leisure

The gym is located up the stairs (or ramp) from the reception area. To the right of the gym entrance is a range of cardio equipment. There are tv screens and mirrors along the walls as well as windows looking outside.

To the left of the entrance are weight machines as well as a free weight area. Lockers and storage units are also available in this area. This is a bright and spacious area with rubber matting on the floor.

Fitness Studio at Franklin Pool & Leisure

This area can be accessed by stairs (outside the gym area) or there is also a lift for wheelchair access. At the top of the stairs are bathrooms including an accessible toilet.

This area includes additional cardio equipment, in particular, cycles for group classes, and has flooring with a combination of rubber matting and carpet tiles. This area is also used for regular community forums. Next door is the kids club. A vending machine with drinks and snacks is located at the base of these stairs.
