Deception Bay Community Hall Visual Story
1. Parking and Arrival
The community hall is a modern building with brick and metal construction. The exterior features a covered entrance with outward opening glass doors. There are two accessible car parking spaces located adjacent to the entrance. There is a sheltered bus stop on the main street in front of the community hall.
The ground is paved with concrete, providing a smooth, step-free path from the accessible car parking spaces and the bus stop to the entrance. There are landscaped areas with plants along the building's perimeter. Pathways connect the hall to surrounding green spaces and other facilities.
2. Entrance and Foyer
The foyer is a wide, open space with brick walls and a polished concrete floor. It features large glass doors and windows, allowing natural light to enter. The ceiling has recessed lighting and ceiling fans.
Accessible bathrooms are located off the foyer, with clear signage. Concrete benches are available for seating. The area connects to various rooms and has step-free pathways, making movement easy. The foyer serves as a gathering space and a transition area between rooms. Activity levels may increase during events. Cooking aromas from the Meals on Wheels service may be noticeable.
3. Community Hall
The main hall features polished timber floorboards and high ceilings, creating a spacious environment. The walls are lined with light wood panels, and large windows allow natural light. A stage is present at one end, accessible via a ramp to the right of the stage. Stairs are available to the left of the stage.
Doors lead to adjacent areas, and accessible performer amenities are nearby. The hall connects to outdoor spaces through wide glass doors.
4. Meeting Rooms
The meeting rooms are connected to the foyer and feature brick walls with large glass doors. One room has wooden parquet flooring, while another has carpet. The ceiling is lower than the main hall, and fluorescent lights provide illumination. The rooms include tables, chairs, and a kitchenette area with a sink and microwave.
Pathways are step-free, and large windows offer views of the outside. The space is used for meetings and gatherings. Activity levels may increase during events. You may hear conversations and footsteps. The lighting is bright, and the rooms are climate-controlled.
5. Muata Fono
The Mauata Fono is a Samoan community structure with a traditional hut shape, constructed from corrugated iron which hosts community events. It features open sides supported by colourful poles. The ground surface is concrete, providing a stable area for gatherings.
Surrounding the structure is a community garden which consists of raised garden beds growing a range of fresh produce. There are pathways connecting the structure to nearby areas. The area is enclosed by fencing, with a gate providing entry.
6. Playground and Barbecue
The playground and barbecue area is adjacent to the community hall entrance. The playground features bark mulch ground, with play equipment including swings and slides. A covered barbecue area with picnic tables is nearby, constructed with steel and concrete. Concrete pathways connect the spaces, with accessible car parking spaces directly in front.
The area is bordered by grass and trees, providing natural shade. This space is used for informal recreation and gatherings. Activity levels may increase during weekends. You may hear children playing and nearby traffic. The smell of barbecue may be noticeable.
