Bribie Island Library Visual Story
1. Main Carpark and Arrival
The main car park at the library features a bright mural wall and dedicated accessible car parking spaces. The ground is paved with asphalt, and there are clear markings for parking. A step-free ramp leads from the car park to the library entrance. The building is constructed with glass and concrete, and there is a ramp connecting to the street and bus stop.
A herb garden is located near the entrance, adding greenery to the area. Pathways are wide and bordered by low hedges and trees, providing shade and a natural boundary.
2. Entrance
The library entrance features automatic glass sliding doors, leading to an interior with grey carpet tiles. The building has a varied roof height, creating a spacious feel. Walls are adorned with colourful murals. Inside, there are bookshelves, tables, and seating areas. Large windows provide natural light. The layout includes clear pathways and a returns slot near the entrance.
The space is used for reading, studying, and computer use. Activity levels may increase during events. You may hear soft conversations and the hum of air conditioning. The area is generally quiet, with occasional footsteps.
3. Adults Area
The library area features a spacious layout with carpeted floors and high ceilings. Bookshelves are arranged in rows, with the customer service desk and self-service kiosks are on the right. To the left, there are reading zones with couches and a dedicated puzzle area.
Large windows provide natural light, and there are several seating options, including chairs and tables. Pathways are wide and step-free, allowing easy movement throughout the space.
4. Customer Service and Self Service Kiosks
The area features modern architecture with large glass windows and carpeted floors. The furniture and carpet appear new, and there are self-service kiosks. The customer service desk is centrally located, with an accessible bathroom nearby. Access to the bathroom is through double sliding glass doors, past a water fountain and to the left through an outward opening door. This bathroom also has a baby change table.
Pathways are wide and step-free, connecting various sections smoothly. The space is used for customer service and self-service activities. Activity levels may increase during peak hours. You may hear conversations and the hum of electronic devices. Natural light enters through large windows, and indoor lighting is bright.
5. Kids Corner
The kids corner features three sections, including a boat structure and a Bribie Island mural. The main area has carpeted flooring with colourful square patterns. Bookshelves and small seating areas are present. A separate playroom has vinyl flooring, small seats, and couches for children.
The space is open with clear pathways connecting the sections. Large windows provide natural light, and there are visible air ducts for ventilation. The playroom's vinyl flooring may increase noise levels when busy.
6. Meeting Room One
Meeting Room One at Bribie Island Library is located to the right after entering the library, then right again through automatic glass sliding doors. The door is operated by a push button. An additional access point is available via a door connecting to the entrance area. The room has carpeted flooring and ceiling-mounted lighting. Tables and chairs are arranged within the space for meetings and group use.
Large windows provide natural light into the room. A kitchenette is included and features a sink, microwave, small dishwasher and access to hot and cold drinking water. The room also includes a Tovertafel system that projects interactive content onto a table surface. This space is used for meetings, programs and small group activities.
7. Meeting Room Two
Meeting Room Two at Bribie Island Library is accessed from the children’s area, opposite the "Koopa" structure, through automatic glass sliding doors operated by a push button. After entering, turn right and continue ahead to a small archway that leads through a narrow tiled corridor to the room. The floor surface transitions from tiles to grey carpet tiles inside the room.
The room includes an oval table with chairs arranged around it. Walls are fitted with whiteboards and display frames. A window with a roller blind overlooks garden beds, trees and a nearby roadway. Lighting is provided by fluorescent ceiling fixtures, with an air conditioning unit and audio-visual equipment installed. This space is used for meetings and small group activities.
8. Rear Car Park
The rear car park is accessed from the street and features a paved surface with marked parking spaces, including accessible car parking spaces. The library building is partially hidden from view upon entry. A ramp with handrails connects the car park to the library entrance, which is covered by a shade structure. The building is constructed with concrete and glass, and surrounded by greenery.
This area is typically used for parking and accessing the library. Activity levels may increase during library hours. You may hear cars and occasional voices. The area is open and may have natural light and some shade.
