Arrival
The arrival area features two carparks on the north and south sides of a playground, each with accessible car parking spaces. The southern carpark is more prominent, with amenities and a coffee cart. Step-free pathways lead to the playground's black pool fencing entry points.
The environment is lush with trees and greenery, providing a natural setting. The sounds of ducks and geese from nearby Bibra Lake are common, creating a lively atmosphere. Visitors are likely to enjoy birdwatching, relaxing with a cup of coffee, or visiting the playground. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, with a sensory-rich experience of nature.
Entry and Amenities
The entrance to Bibra Lake Regional Playground features a large archway decorated with butterfly designs. Surrounding the area is dense greenery, with trees and plants lining the paths. To the left of the entrance is a building with accessible amenities. This includes a changing place fitted with an MLAK key entry, a hoist, a shower with grab bars, and an adult change table. The space is wide enough for carers to navigate. A right-hand accessible toilet is also located here.
Additional bathrooms are found at the back of the building, including another accessible toilet with grab bars. The nearby lake adds natural sound with ducks and geese audible in the background. Visitors may be seen walking, birdwatching, or preparing for play.
Southern Playground
From the entrance, the Southern Playground is directly ahead. A large flying fox with metallic supports is positioned in the centre. To the right is a play area with a spherical metal climbing structure. A shaded seating area is nearby for parents and carers to supervise. A separate sand pit includes a swing, accessed via a rubber path. Giant talking rocks, as if telling local Nyungar stories, are placed around the play zones. The playground is surrounded by tall trees and planted greenery.
Paths are wide and smooth, with clear signage to guide movement. The area supports inclusive play, with equipment suitable for older children. Children may be seen swinging, climbing, or exploring.
Central Playground
The Central Playground is located to the left of the entrance. This area is a vibrant area designed for high-energy activities. It features large climbing structures, vibrant slides and swings above a sand pit, encouraging physical exertion. The playground is surrounded by picnic tables and BBQ areas, fostering a communal atmosphere.
Visitors are likely to engage in playing, climbing, swinging, and socialising. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, with the sounds of nature and the nearby lake adding to the sensory experience.
Interpretative and Tactile Area
The interpretive and tactile area is located in the centre of the playground. A large turtle sculpture is placed on a blue surface representing water. Around the area are tall green structures shaped like reeds. Nearby are sand zones with wooden play structures, balance beams, and swings. Interactive water features are also present, encouraging sensory play.
The space supports movement and exploration, with level surfaces throughout. Visitors may be seen touching the sculptures, using the water features, or balancing on the beams. The area highlights indigenous themes and offers opportunities for play and learning through tactile interaction.
North Playground Toddler Area
The Northern Playground Area includes a grassy play hill and tunnels inspired by Aboriginal stories. It is designed for young children and features elevated platforms, small tunnels, hills, and slides. A small roundabout and a toy vehicle are positioned within the space. Stone steps lead to one of the raised platforms. The area is enclosed by dense plants and trees, offering natural shade.
Playground structures are made from wood and stone. Paths around the area are mostly level and clearly defined. Children may be seen climbing the hill, crawling through tunnels, or playing with the roundabout. Sounds from Bibra Lake and local birds enhance the natural setting.
