Arrival (Lower Carpark) at Aquarena

The Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre is a sprawling white building across multiple levels. Two main arrival zones provide access to the facility, a lower and upper parking area.

The Aquatic Centre is set in a large natural amphitheatre with sloping hillsides and is situated on over 11 acres of landscaped gardens and has a mix of indoor and outdoor facilities.

The lower car park and drop-off zone has 8 accessible car parking spaces and is the closest point to enter the facility. A step-free ramp guides wheelchair users from the car park to the automatic glass sliding door entrance.

Moving through, the Aquarena is apparent, as well as the signages that confidently portray the place’ name. Also, signages are visible and are placed adjacent to the trees planted in garden boxes.

Arrival (Upper Carpark) at Aquarena

The Upper Car Park at Aquarena offers ample parking across two tiered zones. Established gum trees cast significant shade throughout the area. A skybridge connects the upper car park directly to level 2 of the Aquarena facility.

Eight accessible parking spaces are conveniently located adjacent to the skybridge entrance. A step-free access from the car park to the skybridge leads to an automatic glass sliding door entrance.

Visitors can reach the main reception on the ground level or the gymnasium on level 1 via lift or stairs, ensuring easy navigation for all.

Upper carpark at Aquarena. Numerous vehicles are situated in parking spots designated exclusively for individuals with disabilities. Separating the parked cars are yellow road dividers. Additionally, the background is dominated by gum trees that substantially shade the area. Furthermore, an observable pathway guides towards a sky bridge connected to the interior of the Aquarena.

Entrance at Aquarena

Upon entering the Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre, visitors are greeted by a combined passageway and reception area. Directly ahead lies the reception desk, with turnstiles positioned adjacent.

To access the Aquatic Centre, guests must swipe their membership pass or wait for staff to provide entry. For easier access, an 'assisted entry' entrance is available to the left. The interior has a modern ceiling design, grey floors, and glass walls, creating a contemporary and welcoming atmosphere.

Inside the Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre. The interior of the space is quite spacious, capable of accommodating numerous individuals simultaneously. The ceiling boasts a distinctive design featuring fluorescent lights of various sizes. Furthermore, the reception area is clearly visible, along with essential swimming equipment. In addition to this, the entire surface of the area is adorned with striped patterns in shades of white and gray.
A closer look at the reception area. The ceilings and the reception desk showcase intricate designs incorporating a blend of black and white colors. Stainless steel barriers are positioned in front of the reception desk, and adjacent to it, there's a poster on display. Furthermore, several flat-screen TVs are mounted on the wall within the reception area.
“Assisted entry” entrance. On the left side, there is an entrance marked as 'assisted entry' for more convenient access. Beyond this entryway, you'll find a mannequin dressed in casual clothing. Additionally, along the walls behind the mannequin, there are signs displayed.

Moving around the Indoor Aquatic Facility

To access the indoor aquatic facility, pass through the turnstiles adjacent to the reception area and proceed through the manual glass door. Inside, you'll find three indoor pools, each equipped with steps and ramps with handrails for easy access.

The area is alive with substantial water movement and sound, complemented by noise from ongoing classes. Accessible ramps are integrated throughout the facility, including entrances to the warm water pool. Accessible bathrooms are also conveniently located within this area.

The 8-lane adult swimming pool is to the right, separated by blue and red lines and a 3-meter grey-tilled boardwalk divides the two pools, with some dark blue signage at the entrance of the 8-meter pool. In a blue basket, red, green, and yellow floating are stacked close to each meter.
Entering through the walkway leads to a well-lit pool area with an enclosed heart-shaped pool to the left and a children's pool to the right, both overlooking the 8-lane pool. There is a seat at the far end. The restrooms are visible behind the 8-lane.
An accessible ramp inside the Indoor Aquatic Facility. The wide ramped entrance is easily accessible to a large number of people. From here, you can also see the outdoor area and observe people engaged in outdoor activities. At the end of this ramped entry, you'll find a pair of benches by the pool, along with a trash bin and signs displayed above it.

Accessible Equipment at Aquarena

At the Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre, two separate, accessible Changing Place Facilities are located adjacent to the female and male bathrooms. These facilities are equipped with an adult changing table, a toilet with hand grabs, a shower with a bench and handrails, and a handwashing basin. Additionally, an aquatic wheelchair is available for use.

A closer look at the accessible bathrooms. Within the men's restroom, several posters adorn the walls. Signages are also present on the walls differentiating between the men's restroom and the one designated for individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, the walkways surrounding the different restrooms are kept in good condition and offer ample space.
Inside one of the accessible bathrooms. Numerous necessary items for the bathroom are evident, encompassing a changing table, toilet, shower, and handwashing basin. Additionally, a set of standard-sized waste bins is positioned next to the conventional restroom toilet. A mirror is also present alongside a sink, along with a dispenser for hand soap.

The restroom boasts ample space and is equipped with essential amenities like a functional hand soap dispenser, toilet paper holder, and a bathroom bench. Additionally, there's a mirror above a fully operational bathroom sink, and a waste bin is also present. The shower area is positioned on the left side.
Numerous toilet stalls with blue doors. Just before you step into the interior of the space, you'll notice brown benches positioned conspicuously on either side of the entrance. The ceilings are adorned with fluorescent lights, ensuring ample illumination throughout. Additionally, the area is impeccably maintained, and the doors appear to be in pristine condition.

Gymnasium at Aquarena

Situated on level 1 at Aquarena the gymnasium is accessed via elevator or stairwell and has a membership access pass entry gate. As a fully equipped gymnasium containing extensive cardio equipment, strength and resistance zones including weight training equipment the facility also offer access to expert personal trainers.

This space is large and bright with a mixture of natural light filtering through a glass wall and fluorescent lighting. An accessible change room is located within the gym.

A closer look at the accessible stairs and elevators. Located on the first floor of Aquarena, the gym can be reached either by elevator or stairs and requires a membership access pass for entry. The entire space is well-lit, with fluorescent lights arranged in an orderly fashion. Additionally, a yellow mat is positioned at the entrance, both above and below the stairs.
Entrance leading to the Gymnasium. The left side features two easily noticeable elevators, while on the right side, there's a prominently placed poster describing the facility's offerings. The entrance area is roomy and kept in good condition. You can also see pairs of fluorescent lights that provide ample illumination for the gym's main entrance.
Front look of the gym. Before entering the gym, you'll come across a gate requiring a membership access pass. Above, there's a flat-screen TV suspended from the ceiling and, nearby, a CCTV camera. The ceiling is evenly illuminated with fluorescent lighting, and inside, people are observed engaged in workouts within the well-equipped gym.
Closer look inside the gym. Numerous people are utilizing a variety of gym equipment inside the facility. You'll also notice a large ceiling fan and vertically arranged fluorescent lights on the ceiling. The entire area is fitted with rubber and vinyl flooring and is well-kept, with all gym equipment in working order.

Outdoor Aquatic Facility at Aquarena

An outdoor 50m pool and children splash zone is located via two seperate exit points from the main aquatic facility. A sloping concrete path joins the outdoor pool to the main facility. Nestled within a natural amphitheatre a bright colourful water slide sits on the furthest sloping hillside and operates seasonally.

The surroundings are characterized by towering trees and neatly trimmed grass, which extends through the central and rear sections of the space. A person is strolling along the pathway, and next to them, you'll find a facility.

Additionally, well-maintained grassy areas are evident across the outdoor aquatic facility, extending even to the sloping hillside. Light poles are strategically positioned around the outdoor pool area as well.
Pathways throughout the outdoor aquatic facility. The neatly trimmed lawns clearly mark out the pathways throughout the space. The entire area is generously sized, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Furthermore, you can spot the expansive dining area here, along with a massive tree located on the left side.
Closer look at the 50m outdoor pool. This area is centrally located within the entire space. The concrete paths surrounding the pool are wide and well-maintained. The pool itself is equipped with colorful pool flags and lane ropes, a common feature in modern swimming pools. There are also signs placed at different points around the pool.
