Arrival & Parking
The Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, located in Jinibara Country, is nestled on naturally sloping ground with a view of the Glasshouse Mountains. The area features a well-maintained car park with two accessible car parking spaces and step-free pathways.
The surrounding forest is dense and lush, creating a serene atmosphere. Nearby, a BBQ and parkland area offer a space for relaxation and picnics. The main building is modern, with a mix of glass and timber, blending into the natural environment.
From the carpark, there is a step free paved pathway to a ramp with handrails leading to the entrance.
Rainforest Discovery Centre
The Rainforest Discovery Centre features a modern design with glass, wood, and stone elements. At the entrance, outward-opening wooden doors with intricate carvings lead to a spacious interior with high ceilings and large windows showcasing the surrounding rainforest.
To the right is a reception desk with a wooden façade, next to a retail area displaying souvenirs such as books and T-shirts. A gold coin donation sign is positioned near the entry, with a donation box mounted on the wooden wall to the left. Donations can also be made via EFTPOS. The centre offers interactive displays, rainforest exploration, and volunteer-led insights for visitors.
Glasshouse Mountains Viewing Deck
The Glasshouse Mountains Viewing Deck is accessible by stairs with handrails or a lift. The deck combines sleek metal and glass, creating a modern and open atmosphere. Expansive glass walls offer clear views of the Glasshouse Mountains, bringing in natural light and a sense of connection to the landscape.
Information panels are positioned to inform visitors about the views and cultural heritage of the area. Both internal and external spaces provide areas for reflection and appreciation of nature. The calm environment invites a peaceful experience, enhanced by the educational displays.
Rainforest Walks
The rainforest offers a serene environment with over 2 kilometres of walking tracks, boardwalks, and viewing platforms. The entrance features large glass doors and stone walls from the discovery centre or directly from the carpark, leading to a path surrounded by lush greenery. Some tracks are accessible by wheelchair.
Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, nature walks, and quiet reflection. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, with the sounds of nature enhancing the experience.
Accessible Canopy Walk
The Canopy Walk, located at the left of the main entrance is a serene, step-free path that winds through lush forest, offering a unique perspective from above. The walkway is wide, with sturdy stainless steel and wooden handrails, providing a safe and accessible experience.
The architecture blends natural elements with modern design, featuring stone and wood. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of birds and frogs, creating a lively atmosphere. The area is calm and inviting, perfect for leisurely strolls, birdwatching, and nature appreciation.
4WD Wheelchair
The 4WD accessible wheelchair is an all-terrain electric wheelchair designed for navigating rainforest walks. It features a sturdy design with large, rugged tyres suitable for various surfaces. The seat is cushioned and upholstered in blue and black fabric, providing comfort and support.
Visitors can book the wheelchair in advance, allowing users to explore the rainforest with ease and comfort while maintaining independence.

Mountain View Café
The Mountain View Café, located to the left of the Rainforest Discovery Centre, is accessible through an inward-opening glass door. Inside, cold drinks are displayed on the left, and a low wooden counter on the right offers various food options.
The dining area features wooden tables and chairs with a view of the Glasshouse Mountains through large windows. Additional outdoor seating includes picnic tables under umbrella shades, accessed by stairs with handrails.
A male, female, and all-gender accessible toilet equipped with grab bars, a hand basin, and a baby change station are available, located to the right of the café. Noise levels in all bathrooms increase when the hand dryer is in use.
BBQ & Parkland
The BBQ area is set in a lush parkland with a view of the Glasshouse Mountains. The space features well-maintained BBQ equipment under a sturdy metal shelter, surrounded by wooden picnic tables. The area is accessible, with paved paths leading from the nearby car park.
All gender-accessible bathrooms equipped with toilets with grab bars, and hand basins are available to use. Visitors are likely to enjoy cooking, picnicking, and relaxing in this serene environment. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, perfect for family gatherings or quiet reflection. The natural setting provides a refreshing escape from urban life.
