Deliver Access + Promote Inclusion.
Who is Cérge and what does Cérge do?
Cérge is a set of companion technologies delivering societal change ensuring we are all more welcoming and inclusive of disability.

A lack of publicly available accessible information and inadvertent discriminatory customer service are the two biggest yet easily solved Social Barriers to community participation, sport & leisure and accessible tourism for up to 1 in 5 people.
Accessible Information...
With increasing impairment comes an increased requirement for publicly available information to make an informed decision about a destination's accessibility and sensory experience.
Fears of "getting it wrong" or "not knowing where to start" hold many business owners from promoting their existing accessible and sensory experiences publicly on their websites.

Customer Service
The greatest source of discrimination for people with disability is from service and hospitality staff. Importantly, this is not deliberate but inadvertent.
With Over 70%
of all disability being invisible and each disability unique to each person, service and hospitality staff are left to guess and lack the confidence to deliver empathetic service to customers with disability.
The Cérge Companion App provides service staff the confidence to ensure empathetic customer service and deliver meaningful social impact.

Cérge Companion Websites
The Cérge Companion Websites are a plug and play solution for a venue or destination to make a stepped change in the publicly available information detailing accessible and sensory experience imagery and descriptions.
An immediate and significant uplift in publicly available information empowers customers with disability, parents, carers and support workers to make an informed decision before arrival.
Designed to link directly from a company’s website, the Cérge Companion Website contains:
Visual Story & Sensory Guide
Access Guide
Virtual Tour
Audio Guide powered by A.I.
Keyword Sign Board
Communication Board
Cérge Companion App
Imagine having your own personal disability and mental health advocate in your pocket to ensure you receive warm and empathetic customer service whilst participating in local community, sport, and whilst traveling.
The Cérge Companion App is a free assistive technology for individuals with disability, support worker, carers, and parents to notify a participating destination/venue of specific service preferences ahead of time and remove the fears and anxiety of how you or your loved ones will be treated.
Discreet messaging from app direct to the venue empowers customer service staff with complete confidence and knowledge to ensure an inclusive experience.

I’ve always loved going swimming but it’s not something I would want to do by myself. I usually need someone there with me to keep me busy enough not to worry about the bubbling anxiety waiting. Making a mistake that might have me singled out or worrying about people watching me.The ability to write exactly what I wanted during the visit was so helpful. Initially I was a little nervous about writing a short note about my anxiety and my son’s struggles with being overwhelmed by loud noises, new places and lots of people, but in hindsight it was amazing not to have to worry about trying to mask how I was feeling. It was also a relief having them know my son may need some extra attention during the tour. Thanks to being able to answer those two simple questions in the Cérge app, and letting the centre know when to expect us, checking in and being welcomed was a very comfortable experience. I was greeted, by name, by a calm and friendly staff member and shown around the spacious new aquatic centre. I believe he also targeted some information towards me such as letting me know their usual quieter times. At the end of the tour my son and I had a great little swim around and Aaron even wanted to explore one of the other pools he had seen during our tour which I definitely consider a win as he doesn’t love stepping outside of his comfort zone. After this experience I feel much more comfortable with the idea of going swimming at the centre on my own as I feel I could do so knowing the ins and outs of the pool area and the process of entering the facility. I would definitely recommend the Cérge app for people that have any requirement for more targeted assistance. Even if it is just needing someone to help you feel at ease in a new and overwhelming environment.

"My son Henry is autistic and has very poor proprioception and muscle tone so he doesn’t go to a lot of places often because it’s usually far too much sensory input for him. His “wet noodling” around the place can crash into things etc. This causes extreme frustration and embarrassment for him and sometimes staff can be rude at times like this or not know how to help. It’s frustrating and my heart breaks for my son.I have to say I was pretty nervous going to White Ridge Farm with my son. I wasn’t sure how he would cope, how the staff would be and to be honest, if it would just be a disaster. We knew @cerge was at the farm so we were keen to give it a go as we have heard great things. The night before I read through the Visual Story on the app with the children and they felt as though they knew what to expect and were very excited. This was an amazing resource and certainly helped my own nerves because I new everyone had seen photos of the venue along with sights, smells and other possible sensory interactions.I notified White Ridge Farm on the app 60 mins before our arrival about our must knows which were areas and activities that are less noisy/busy with fewer people and plenty of space for Henry’s unique walking style and that we are bringing along the pram for him to sit in when he needs to.I received notification that they had read and acknowledged our requirements within 10 minutes of sending it. Talk about service!I booked our tickets online prior to ensure that we wouldn’t have to spend too much time at the entrance buying them where Henry would get anxious before our day even started. That process was great the staff member at the counter acknowledged that we were with Cérge and took extra time to go into further detail about the farm, directed at the children, about some of the sounds/smells/textures they may come across on our journey and gave them a map to help them orientate. This was great and made us feel like we were appreciated and not a bother.Once inside, the area was vast and there was PLENTY of the space that we needed on the paths. The staff were very friendly and answered every single one of Henry’s questions (and this kid asks a LOT of questions ). They also reiterated some of the strange ways his hand may feel as he feeds the animals, which is something I hadn’t even considered so thankful to them for that!Being able to take our own food and have a picnic was perfect as it’s always so hard to find foods that Henry will eat based on texture and we generally avoid places where outside food is prohibited.I would definitely recommend it to any families wanting a great day out! It was so great! The ability to let the farm know our situation through Cérge prior to arrival, the Visual Story to prepare and the amazing staff at Whites Ridge Farm. What a great day! I can’t wait to go out again and usually after a day out I think I never want to go out again!

You know those times when you think you have it all under control as a mum and then your kids yell “plot twist!"
That’s exactly what happened for me on Sunday when visiting Nambour Aquatic Centre.
I was prepared, I have two ASD kids so we have used the Cérge app before and it’s fantastic. I have one child who has big emotions and doesn’t like too much stimulation and one who runs
off….. a lot.
Going out gives me anxiety. Huge anxiety. Because not only do I have to manage the “mum load” of making sure they are fed and watered and happy. I also have to account for any change, any situation and pre empt as much as I humanly can.
It’s hard. Very hard.
I showed both children the Visual Story, Photos and Sensory Guide, so we were all prepared with how everything looks and feels. I notified through the Cérge app and let the staff know when we would be arriving and that I have a child that runs and a child that may need space.
We were rocking.
Swimmers, towels, snacks and Cérge and we are set! I actually felt ahead of the game for once. We arrive at the pool and check in seamlessly, the staff are amazing, helpful, inclusive and friendly. We are excited! We head for our swim. Well, whatever could go wrong for me did.
One child ran, the other was over stimulated and the emotions were at an all time high. I want eyes on my son near a pool at all moments and I couldn’t find him. Panic mode.
Now, I’m not going to lie and say this never happens. It does. A large part of my life is trying to be the best mum I can possibly be and meet my children’s needs. But sometimes that can’t be met by one person.
We have left places feeling humiliated, shamed, unwelcome and upset and none of these feelings are any I want my children to feel. Today was different though, the staff knew who I was and our needs through Cérge they were able to assist calmly, navigate what we needed quickly and quietly and lead with pure
professionalism. What I noticed was because the staff were exceptional and inclusive the patrons followed suit.
Never, ever, have I experienced this before. They offered a quiet room for my daughter and the facility has a latched gate at the entrance which has supervision also so I knew my son was safer. They loved the slides and my son probably went down a thousand times! Lucky they don’t charge per ride! Wow.
In the past we would leave with hysterical kids and I would cry in the car wondering if I will ever leave the house again. Not today though, today I had a team, today I was part of a village. I was a person trying to get through something hard with extra help and support. Today I didn’t feel like a loser being judged as a failure. That’s a first. Nambour Aquatic Centre, you are amazing. Thank you.
……..And of course thank you Cérge.
Life changing! Literally

"As I have hereditary nerve deafness I would normally feel a little bit anxious about going to a brand new venue. I would normally feel frustrated if there was a communication barrier, or hopeless at having to rely on my husband to communicate for me.I have a two year old who is also Hard of Hearing and I want her to be able to learn how to communicate and see inclusion not frustration. In past experiences, if the first person I deal with has a thick accent, I can be there for ages with us trying to work each other out. It’s time consuming, frustrating and sometimes embarrassing for us both. I had put in my “Must Know” that I needed the customer service person to not have an accent please. When I arrived the first person who served me had an accent. I pointed to the sign and said Cérge app, and he immediately grabbed the Manager as they knew I was arriving and that was their plan.Other times, I normally just divert to my husband and let him talk for me which is irritating and not sustainable long term as I want to be able to communicate for myself. When we arrived at Stromlo Leisure Centre, the Manager, Bianca looked after us. She spoke clearly to me, introduced herself, showed us where to go, and went through what the different pools were.It was such a nice feeling to feel like we were looked after and not a bother. We were able to get what we needed seamlessly. Bianca was professional and kind.We would certainly normally visit these kinds of venues as we do take our daughter to swimming lessons and as mentioned above, if there is a communication barrier, I let my husband talk for the both of us instead. If Cérge was more available, it would certainly make things easier for our family, especially in areas where it's normally a noisy environment. We had a wonderful time at Stromlo and it is a great place, so many things to do! I felt quite happy leaving and would happily drive out of our way to come here again for the simple fact I felt included.I would love for Cérge to be in some local Canberra cafes, even the local clubs (Vikings, Southern Cross Club, etc) that would make so much difference to me and my friends
Looking forward to our next visit!"
I have anxiety, fibromyalgia, issues with sensory overload ADHD
and rheumatoid arthritis. So I have quite a few barriers to
accessing an aquatic centre and feeling comfortable.
In my daily life for work, I support clients include mature-aged
women with chronic pain and health conditions; and stroke
survivors requiring minimal support.
So using Cérge to visit Watermarc Banyule yesterday was a
tremendous experience as a user but also seeing the benefits for
the people I work with. My own intrinsic experience in two
varying ways yet both amazingly complimented each other and
how this can change so many lives and enable me to support my
people SO much more.
As I drove towards the venue there was some construction near
the venue with some of the area out of street view. I was a bit
anxious but having read up in the app I remembered that it was
said the venue is on a hill and there is underground parking; with
direct access to the venue with a lift!!
Yay no stairs!
It helped to know it would be a big building so you knew what to expect. Not
all people with disability need lifts, or ramps. But today, for me. I did.
I did not get lost and nervous as I usually do when going to a new
place, so it was a nice experience. It’s actually incredible how just
being able to mind map a venue from looking at all the
information beforehand seriously relieved so much for me. The problem- you have to literally scour multiple websites to try
and get the information you need.
I need more than a car park, opening times and a pretty webpage.
I need to see the toilet.
The change room
I need to know the smells and noises.
The stuff that isn’t pretty on a website is usually what most people
need but can’t find, so they stay home. Trust me.Noah told me where the change rooms were and they were clean
and not crowded. I had seen them in the Visual Story and they
looked the same which is always comforting.
I used the exercise equipment as stated in the app to use in the
pool; I always thought people had brought their own! When I
asked when are the usual quieter times, Noah understood that I
would enjoy a time when the water slide closes in the late
afternoon and then the rest of the facilities are still open to be
used. Noah felt like a friend. I think me using Cérge kinda made it
feel like we had a mate in common so we had rapport quickly.
Overall a very pleasant experience that I would do again and
recommend using the app to clients, friends and family. I would
actually go to places mostly that are on the app as I will feel less
anxious and I will know before I arrive if physically I can use the
facility or not.

Truthfully, as a parent of a child with ASD it takes planning. The mental load can often be the thing that breaks me. Thinking, planning, preventing, pre-empting and the plot twists.
For me, it’s all about calculating his level and where he is at, watching as things add to his load and watching him relax as things become less. It’s a huge mental game at the best of times. I just want the best for my son.
I guess usually the thought of a loud pool with the echoing of excited children and splashing would be something I wouldn’t often consider, however I know that water is great for him and he enjoys it. For us to have a success it’s all about the layering and expectations.
Layer 1, talk to him about what we are doing today and give him a slower morning and breakfast.
Layer 2, use Cérge as I was able to show Seth the Keilor East Aquatic Centre on the Visual Story, I showed him the car park, the entrance, the reception and the pools.
Layer 3, prepare him to leave and explain to him I am letting the pool know we are coming. I put in the “Must Know” that it is VERY important not to bombard Seth with long conversations and questions but he does love a “hello” and smiles.
This part is SO important for me because it’s this part that will get us to Layer 4 and a home run for the outing or it will take us all the way back to zero.
Being able to share this information meant that I was much more confident in getting through reception with a happy child. Often staff try to do the right thing by talking to him because they don’t have the insider knowledge to say “please don’t”.
When we arrived at Keilor East, we were greeted and efficiently moved through the payment process. Everyone was pleasant. it not over the top which was perfect. Yes they were at tad busy at the counter upon arrival and yet they were lovely to deal with.
The staff explained swimming lessons were occurring but there was an outdoor pool that was quite and not too many people so we could enjoy a swim without too much noise. Layer 5 done for me! Explained, efficient and quiet place!
My anxiety was so much less on this outing just because I felt like I had back up, like a silent mum army behind me.
I’m so glad we decided to attend again and used Cérge, we had a great experience and look forward to many more visits like this one!
We ended up home, fulfilled and smiling! Home run!
Thank you
